African Minerals Limited (AIM:AMI), the mineral exploration and development company with significantΒ iron ore and base metalΒ interests in Sierra Leone, West Africa, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr.Β Craig Russell SmithΒ asΒ aΒ DirectorΒ and Chief Financial Officer, effectiveΒ 1 February 2010.Β Β
Mr.Β Smith, agedΒ 49, isΒ a Chartered Accountant and a member of theΒ InstituteΒ ofΒ Chartered AccountantsΒ inΒ Australia. Prior to joining African Minerals he was the Chief Financial Officer of Felix Resources Limited (ASX:FLX), an ASX-listed coal mining and exploration company with a market capitalization in excess of AUD3 billion. Mr. Smith has held senior finance and management positions in a number of mining companies including Eastern Corporation Limited (ASX:ECU) and Roche Mining, a division of Downer EDI (ASX:DOW). Mr. Smith qualified as an accountant in 1985 with the firm that is now PricewaterhouseCoopers.
The Company also announces thatΒ Jamie AlpenΒ has resignedΒ his position as Chief Financial Officer andΒ from the board of Directors of the Company, effectiveΒ 31 January 2010.

Commenting on the Board changes,Β Frank Timis, Executive Chairman of African Minerals said:Β
