Federated Wireless partners with Cisco and others to bring 5G technologies to rural and poorly connected communities
Allied Minds plc (LSE: ALM, "the Group"), the IP commercialisation company focused on early stage company development within the technology sector, notes the announcement by Cisco in which Federated Wireless, an Allied Minds portfolio company, is named as a partner in developing a first-of-its kind deployment toolkit for next generation networks using 5G technologies in the UK.
As previously announced on 20 February 2020, Federated Wireless has partnered with Cisco and the University of Strathclyde in 5G New Thinking, an initiative that brings together diverse partners to develop the tools, processes and business models that will allow rural and poorly connected communities to establish next generation and 5G connectivity for local benefit.
The project will be run in partnership with the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and with community and civic partners in the Orkney Islands, Borderlands and Northern Ireland.
