htantawy, I think any rise depends on the price of gold, strenght of the U.S Dollar, the state of the world economy and results. I was in profit a few weeks ago and now underwater. Will be in profit again over the next few weeks, I think. Think long-term and don't panic about the day to day movements of a share. All the best, Wilf.
It's alright lads. I have just bought a few more and it started to go up. I am still underwater here but, whatever the perils, have averaged down to £1.7267. I think it will rise beyond that over the next few weeks. All the very best, Wilf.
Cheers Picket and Sotolo. I think things may get rocky on the global stock markets over the next few months and this share could be a good counter-balance against that. I may be completely wrong, of course.
Thanks MrTibbles, it's good to be aboard.

I bought this morning. Not sure about holding for 15 years but will see how it goes. Looking good so far, since I jumped in this morning.
Just topped up with a modest half a million (shares, not pounds, sadly)
Snige, I think there is everything to fear, but, as the saying goes, feel the fear and do it anyway. (By that, I mean investing in stocks and shares/Lloyds etc). I am underwater with Lloyds at the moment, but only by the amount of the dealing fees I have paid to buy Lloyds shares since I first got into all this in April 2016.
Snige, since I bought more an hour or so, the price has dropped. Ho hum. But my view is that by buying monthly for my kids at low prices, fluctuations like we are seeing now will be ironed out and I will have built up a good holding for if and when it finally takes off. Of course, I may be making a mistake and could be better off just saving the cash for my kids. In 16 years I will look back and know if I made the right call.
For what it's worth, I just bought more. I am also buying Lloyds shares monthly for both my kids' ISAs. The longer it stays lower means I can buy more for them. I believe we'll contiue to get a kicking for a while, through Brexit and beyond but once the dust settles and PPI is a dim and distant memory, this share will begin to rise. That, combined with a healthy dividend for the forseeable future, should give my kids a tax free income for a long time, plus any growth in capital. My daughter is 23 and working but my son is only 2 so by the time he starts work, he should have quite a healthy Lloyds ISA. All tax free.
JackSM, how can you possibly know that?
I bought another 500000 today and it is showing as a sall on HL site.
Call me old fashioned, Kern, but I didn't think the idea of wife-swapping was to get anyone pregnant. Usually it starts with a few Babychams and then car keys thrown into a bowl doesn't it? Bet Bob and Kern would have a heart attack if they picked out a set of Audi or Renault keys. Good old British Leyland or nothing eh? Best ride of your life. (As long as you don't leave the 1970s, let alone the EU) That would be 1402 deaths. Tragic.
Andyagogo, Wales voted for Brexit.
Haha! Cheers Fallingknife1. I am willing to wait and see but if and when it hits 4000p, I will consider taking some profit. So far, I am liking the view too.
I bought on May 21 at 3119p so all going in the right direction so far...
Shandypants, so you've been sitting on a loss, I imagine for quite a while, and then you decide to sell and make that loss real just as the future's looking brighter? Give us all a break.
Moniman, Join us? You're either with us or against us. Sounds like the latter to me.
Gate13Boy, I think Russia (Putin) is giddy with glee at the thought of Brexit. It weakens the EU and makes him stronger. Will be interesting to see what he does beyond March 29 next year. Maybe nothing. Maybe not. (I know Brexit takes up a lot of time on this board but it is relevant to Lloyds and people do care passionately about it on both sides. My best friend voted for Brexit. We are still friends, we have a row about it occasionally but don't let it get in the way of our friendship - well, not too much....)
Gate13Boy, are you serious? You say you are sure the NI/Ireland border issue will be resolved? You think that will be solved before March 29 next year? Add on a thousand years and you might be in the right ball park. Ps. I am not trolling you - I am just a person with an opposing view to you.
