IRC has finally become Eldorado ... at least for a few months

IRC Announcement

Petropavlovsk acts as guarantor in relation to the obligations of K&S, a wholly owned IRC subsidiary, under two loan facility agreements with Gazprombank ("GPB"). During the period, IRC made principal repayments totalling US$10.3m to GPB in accordance with the loan repayment schedule and, in addition, settled guarantee fees of US$13.8m to Petropavlovsk PLC. Additionally, K&S made repayments totalling US$50m to GBP in July and August. Therefore, the outstanding loan principal amount as of the date of this announcement amounted to c.US$143.5m.

Good news. It could end up like Temi. I bet IRC will be able to repay its loans faster than Petropavlovsk from now on.
It doesn't make sense to sell IRC now without the advice of shareholders, or at least bondholders.
POG will earn more money in 2021 with IRC than with the planned sale of its stake in IRC

This is surely due to the cancellation of the sale of IRC

First cross-river railway bridge between China and Russia completed
A new bridge that will link Russia and China's railway systems was completed on August 17, 2021, seven years after its much-heralded groundbreaking.
The structure's full name is the China-Russia Tongjiang-Nizhneleninskoye Bridge. It connects Tongjiang, a city in China's far northeastern Heilongjiang province, with Nizhneleninskoye, a town across the border with Russia along the banks of the Amur River.

A GOOD THING
I suppose that the sale of IRC is effective. POG is no longer IRC' caution and is no longer risky for the banker. Gazprombank is ready to improve borrowing conditions and increase our debt.
IF all is well in the best of all worlds.

Of course, I would have preferred:
- that the sale of IRC is an attempted fraud
- that the law allows us to cancel the sale and then make a big profit
- incidentally Mr Mukherjee will give us his opinion on the matter

Petropavlovsk PLC (LON:POG) has today announced the technical launch of the Pioneer flotation plant, the Company’s second facility for processing refractory gold ore and producing flotation concentrate.

Mr Denis Alexandrov, Petropavlovsk CEO said: “The successful launch of the Pioneer flotation plant represents a key strategic milestone for the Company. We are pleased to have commissioned the facility slightly ahead of the mid-year target we set when I joined the Company last year. The new plant will enable Petropavlovsk to take full advantage of Pioneer’s substantial refractory ore reserves while providing an additional source of own-mined concentrate for our state-of-the-art POX Hub.”

There might be no smoke without fire; IRC is sold, good news, even if it hurts my heart; IRC sale is postponed and IRC results improve by then (Especially if IRC manages to sell its ore at a price close to the market price, or in any case at more than half the market price which seems to be the case in 2020, without any shareholder trying to understand why)
The sale of IRC before the refinancing of POG can protect us (I mean for small shareholders) and positively impact the share price

Another positive thing about IRC
Iron ore index 65% Fe fine : 210 USD /t
IRC average selling price is around 100 USD/t
Assuming, IRC manages to increase its selling prices. Those are massive potential gains.

I am glad that there are no more strange and upsetting things in the releases or results; The level of production is low but the market seems to have already fully taken this into account. The risk of having bad news now seems to be ruled out except perhaps for refinancing. I don't know exactly why, but I'm more confident.

As there is no news about POG, here is some about IRC.
Is it possible that IRC will make as much profit as POG? The same IRC that the previous management of POG wanted to sell for next to nothing?
I think POG still owns about 30% of IRC

"IRC Limited... is expected to report a profit attributable to shareholders of approximately US$90 million to US$106 million for 2020 as compared to a loss of approximately US$38.7 million for 2019"

Compare this to the 4 February 2021 estimate : "a profit attributable to Shareholders for the twelve months ended 31 December 2020 of between approximately US$20 million to US$26 million"
Rather a big difference between February and march update
