Healthy boards have disagreement. Echo chambers destroy people’s money
MAR is being used here as a kind of magic‑wand explanation, but that’s not actually how it works in practice. If a company is negotiating a major partnership, grant or institutional round, they don’t need AGM headroom before announcing it. They can (and routinely do) RNS the deal first, then handle any shareholder approvals afterwards if required.
Headroom is about flexibility for future dilution, not a prerequisite for announcing a big deal.
If something material was genuinely imminent, the company would have had to disclose it already under MAR — not wait for an AGM vote.
So the idea that ‘they couldn’t say anything until today’ doesn’t really stack up with how UK markets operate.
If a major partnership or grant was landing next week, the share price wouldn’t be drifting on low volume
