Initially it looked like the market was discounting the likelihood of a follow up bid when the SP started to move back towards the pre-bid price. Right now it's still not fully convinced but a bit more optimistic - it will probably sit in this wait and see price range until there is some certainty.

Market had the initial bid figured by yesterday afternoon. Let's see if there's a follow up bid. Don't think they will let it go until at least £65+

Today’s close at £58.8 says the market remains sceptical until it gets more details. The next few days trading will tell a lot.

Interesting move in the DCC share price over the last few days - for no obvious reason?

It's more about market confidence. Over the past few years the company strategy has been somewhat erratic. One minute it's O&G, then it's a diverse multi faceted conglomerate with multiple business units, tech, healthcare etc., then it's back to O&G again. I don't dispute the fact that on paper it's very undervalued but it has to regain confidence that the re-focused O&G business is a sustainable growth model going forward.

£47.66? Something has to give eventually?

Top of the range £53.20, less than the SP before the whole new 'strategy' was announced.

What is the long term goal for this company? The stock performance has been abysmal for over a decade. The strategic plans/reversals have done nothing to build any confidence. How can this just continue year after year??

Tender offer, not a dividend unfortunately. Starts after the interim results on November 11th, with the tender to complete in December.

100million down, 600million to go - maybe the SP might even get back to the pre-divestment levels?

Here's what they said in their conference call on 13/5:

"Following the completion of the sale of DCC Healthcare, DCC will return £600 million to shareholders. We will announce the form of the return, which will likely include a reduction in the share count on completion of the disposal"

Article in todays Irish Independent notes that DCC intention is "to return £800m (€923m) to shareholders through a reduction in share capital"

So far the reductions in share capital have had little effect - I would much rather prefer a cash dividend!

Almost back to the 52 week low today, buybacks obviously not having any impact to date.

Looks like the market has already priced in any potential dividends, SP is about £6-7 lower than prior to the divestment news.

I would personally prefer a cash dividend in preference to share buybacks. I've seen too many companies going down that route to very little avail.

The SP performance over the last decade tells the story here. Too much effort spent trying to create some kind of diverse mega conglomerate only to then start unwinding it.

The problem with this message board is that it has never been balanced. Any criticism or genuine questions were always shouted down. In 2023 I made a number of posts about the trading that seemed to me to indicate an upcoming placing. It was quite obvious from the trading patterns that only retail investors were buying with large holders forward selling. I posted my views simply to inform and had no agenda. I was immediately attacked by the major board rampers so I didn't bother engaging again. A few weeks later the 11p fund raise happened. I have to admit I didn't expect it to be that low but it was obvious it was coming. On all these message boards it's best to ignore both pumpers and dumpers, best to heed genuine posters who are somewhere in the middle
