dam, you spotted I'm a fraud ;)

to be fair we could all post titbits of info which if we were lucky would be proved wrong or right.

we know what stage we are at so with a small amount of knowledge of how drilling a well works you can make educated guesses.

for example I could pop up and say now -

yep wire line is quick, as the name suggests is a wire no screwing 90ft lengths of pipe together and running into the hole.

they could be in a position to give us initial results Friday or early next week

Could well mean they have found gas there would be little value in wire line logging otherwise IMO

BUT the side wall cores will be taken from a wireline tool and they may well still run without gas to gather as much data as possible especially from the Paleo

hopefully they've encountered shite loads of gas but learnt from Badile and wont tell us until they know for sure

but seriously I was a mud logger, who speaks to the geologist, driller, directional driller, Mud engineer, MWD/LWD crew, company man - Pretty much everyone so it's not the great secret you might think it is...... and I certainly never signed an NDA but maybe its different now a days

you just go to the smoking shack where all the secrets are revealed.... :)

When I was a mud logger we had a computer and a printer :)

principals are the same though in analysing what we see on the surface

they'd be on a go slow to work out where they are. It will be controlled and slow.

they'll be seeing in the cuttings something (that they didn't expect), maybe gas shows, maybe not

then the down hole LWD/MWD tools with pass through this geological horizon so they can correlate and work out what they are seeing. (The logging tools aren't just behind the drill bit they are a good few metres back up the drill string)

As always it could be bad, it could be good
