StarDrop is an Infochem (owned by Deepmatter) product and they have a tie up with Optibrium.Shows the power and potential of the tech.
Think AZ will fund research not sure about revenue from first customer as not mentioned yet .The other thing that I find amazing is Oxford nanopore are losing $50 million a year and are still valued at 1.6 bn .Deepmatter have a platform already set up and working and gaining traction with the big players already .Bodes well.
Both have same investors i.e. IP group ,Richard Griffiths. Both have links with AstraZeneca.Sure they are both working on covid .Shows Deepmatters potential.
Wouldn't surprise me if Astrazeneca didn't buy us out .Would be a lot cheaper within 6 months than in two years time .They have a couple of customers so hopefully they won't need to place as research is expensive ,will be interested to see the fyr .
Oxford Nanopore are also members of the IP Group and Richard Griffiths is invested with them too https://www.sarossaplc.com/content/board .They are working on covid see BBC article .https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-51804294.
Notice too they are working with other universities including Glasgow .https://www.ipgroupplc.com/media/portfolio-news/2020/2020-03-23.
Also note the valuation of Oxford nanopore https://pitchbook.com/news/articles/oxford-nanopore-16b-fundraise-plans-offer-possible-exit-for-troubled-fund. Only worth 1.6billion may take a few years to get there but you never know .This type of technology is the future of pharmaceutical research. See comments from Astrazeneca https://pharmaphorum.com/news/deepmatter-will-help-astrazeneca-digitise-discovery-chemistry/
Richard Griffiths is a shrewd guy he has 20% for a reason .My feeling is Deepmatter will be either bought out by one of the big boys or go on to be a huge company worth several hundred million.
I am invested and really excited the more I research the more I like it .
Great RNS ,basically any extra orders the profit now goes straight to the bottom line .With the board holding 20 % can't see them looking to dilute .looking at the figures I am sure there will be lots of alternative financing options available ,especially with the quality of the clients we are dealing with .Transformational news .
Have been doing a bit of research into Cropx which I thought I would share .
I have posted a bit of information on Twitter but realise that not everyone uses that format so apologies if you have read some of this already .
There is a real possibility that Cropx and Star could have some real tranformational news and here's why .
Cropx have recently taken over Cropmetrics who have recently signed a partnership deal with the Climate Corporation (Field View ) They are part of the Bayer group .So why is this so important ? Well Field view have 90 million paid acres on their books and they are in the process of looking for a field sensor system which measures nitrogen and moisture which in their own words will be a game changer ,See article https://cropscience.bayer.co.uk/blog/articles/2020/02/fieldview-instant-data-system-is-farming-game-changer/ . They also have a note on their website coming soon Fieldview ready sensor (Sound like a diy sensor doesn't it see link https://dev.fieldview.com/ .
So why do I think this is the Cropx sensor well in December Growers edge (Bayer) signed a deal with Cropx to use their sensor . https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2019/12/17/1961619/0/en/Growers-Edge-and-CropX-Partner-to-Incent-Farmers-to-Adopt-Soil-Sensing-Technolog .They have also sucessfully trialled the product already via IAF (Partnership between Bayer ,Finistere who put money into cropx initially)https://en.globes.co.il/en/article-farmers-blind-to-what-happens-under-the-soil-1001264173
The Chief technical officer (John Gates ) at Cropmetrics also worked at Bayer as the chief scientific officer and helped set up the fieldview platform .So knows how it works
So we have established the links between the companies ,now why is this so important ,well Cropx costs the farmer approx $10 an acre to install plus a regular small amount each month ( Saas) It saves approx 30-40 % water which is $13-$20 dollars an acre saving and as per this article increases yield by $40 dollars an acre https://live-ourcrowd.time.ly/event/investor-lunch-at-finistere-ventures-with-cropx/
So in short if you pay $10 an acre at the end of the growing season you will receive all your money back plus an extra $43-50 per acre , How many of those 90 million acres do you think would sign up ?
I may be wrong and it could be some other sensor they are using make up your own mind .I have and am heavily invested.
ICL brought a stake in Cropx when they first started .https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/icl-invests-in-cropx-makes-first-investment-in-precision-ag-300640968.html .
Thought this is interesting, from Actis website .Our Energy funds invest in high growth, buy and build power companies and develop them into attractive acquisition targets for strategic investors targeting attractive risk-adjusted returns. The certainty of long term, contracted cash flow protects the downside of these investments. In addition to generation, we invest in high growth monopoly distribution platforms where electricity is in scarce supply. Our energy team use industrial value creation and best practice tools to drive value in our investee companies and has deep and proven experience in this sector, having committed close to US$4.4 billion to 31 energy transactions and exited 21.
They are just about to open The Grand Mall Shopping centre, which will require a lot of energy, wonder if they would be interested in buying a gas company to power it ? Looks like they have the funds .
Been doing a bit of research on Lokies and the Star tie up with the CCTT (Coordinating Council on Transsiberian Transportation .For those of you who don't Star have recently joined the council ,so why is this so important as the name suggests this is the body that organises and arranges rail freight along the new European Silk Road (basically a rail link between europe and China ) At their recent meeting two of the items discussed were the new legislation that requires all transit cargo travelling through Russia to have an electronic seal or lock .It must carry a tracking device that is compatible with the Russian GPS system (Glonass) See the official Russian CCTT website the details of the meeting are on there.
So why is this significant for Star ? Well they are the only ones I can find who produce this and they have just joined the council. So my guess is that Star are going to be the ,or one of the approved suppliers .Soon it is going to be necessary for every container travelling through Russia to China to have one of these .At present there are 1 million containers a year travelling through Russia (20,000 a week) and this is due to increase fourfold by 2024 .Stated in a recent interview by the chairman of CCTT who incidentally signed Stars certificate of membership .It is also worth noting that it is 2-3 days quicker and 50%-80% cheaper to transport via rail than by ship ,which is what is going to drive growth .
Now if I was an exporter sending something through Russia on this route I would want to make sure I brought a seal that met all of the requirement LOKIES !! I wonder what one would cost $100 ? Could be a lot more as there is no real competition at the moment .
Say it was $100 and we sold 10,000 = $1million say we sold 100,000 = $10million . Say they were $200 then double it ! See where I am coming from .This is potentially game changing for star .The other thing is when companies start using the product they will realize how good it is and start using it in other areas then the growth could be huge .
Star also own the intellectual property of Lokies 100% themselves and they will probably be selling the product direct to the end user so no middleman to pay .(See Lokies rns)
The other thing which is so good with LOKIES is no keys ,it can be opened via a smartphone with the right code/signal .Imagine sending a container to China from Europe and then having to post the keys to the end destination or having to send the keys with the train not very secure .
I may be wrong with this (my wife will tell you I am always wrong ) but I am buying as I think the market hasn't understood the recent developments .Any comments appreciated .
Extract from speech by CEO of CCTT Oleg Belozokov ,he is the man who signed the certificate shown on lokies tweet by Starcom .He made the speech just after welcoming Starcom to the board ,just shows the scale of the opportunity for Starcom .Note the mention of digitilisation at the end .
Container traffic on Trans-Siberian increased by a quarter from January to August 2019
In the 8 months from January to September 2019, the shipment of containers on the Trans-Siberian Railway increased by 25% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 727,000 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs), according to Oleg Belozorov, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of OJSC Russian Railways. Belozorov was speaking at the plenary session of the Coordinating Council on Trans-Siberian Transportation on 19 September 2019 in Nur Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan.
"Today we are witnessing an increase in the volume of rail container traffic between China and Europe which is outpacing not only the growth rate of Eurasian freight flows by other modes of transport, but also the dynamics of foreign trade in general," said Belozorov.
In 2018, the international transportation of containers along Trans-Siberian increased by 23% and amounted to about 950,000 TEUs, of which one in four was a transit shipment.
"It is significant that over the last 8 years, the volume of container traffic from China to Europe via Kazakhstan has increased by more than 200 times," said Oleg Belozorov.
Belozorov also said that the transit of containers on Russian railways is expected to increase fourfold by 2024, and the Company was making significant efforts to achieve this figure.
"Time dictates our agenda. The digitalisation or even digital transformation of the rail and logistics sectors is both a challenge and a joint new opportunity for the development of transport across the Eurasian space," he said.
So how close is vogs pipeline ? Cannot see they would use any other generators other than gas ,especially as it is advertised as a green scheme .
So how is it being powered? Solar? What happens in the rainy season? Grid power too unreliable .Oil powered generation too dirty as it's a green building .I would have thought a gas generator would be the best option .Does our pipe extend to near the airport which is where the new centre is?
Hi bigsmoke ,thanks for the message and your well researched post .I am under no illusions with vog ,I think the board have been a disgrace in recent years . The Douala Grand Malll and business park is due to open shortly it's a big development has lots of shops and a cinema. It is Cameroons first green building and I wondering as we were involved .If we are it would help with our near term cash flow maybe enabling us to get to big power without more dilution.Any help finding the information would be useful .
Found out how to copy and paste ,from The article note how The electronic seal can now be manufactured by any other supplier not just The Russian one and Starcom are on the Russian freight council .Just to give you an idea of The scale there were 800000 containers transported by rail this year . This is going to be massive for Starcom. Note also this is obligatory if you want your cargo to go through Russia it has to have an electronic seal.
The use of electronic seals with GLONASS navigating technology (Russian analogue of GPS) is obligatory for the transit transportation of EU products to China via the Russian territory. This measure came with the lifting of a ban on such transit traffic a few weeks ago. However, the application procedure of the seals has not yet been finalised.
New regulations
To this end, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Maxim Akimov instructed the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Telecommunications, the Ministry of Economic Development and the Federal Customs Service to develop new regulations by the end of July. This will extend the number of electronic seals suppliers. Now they are developed by RT Invest company, a subsidiary of state-owned multifunctional technology corporation Rostec.
“Seals for the transit of goods through Russia will be provided to an unlimited number of companies. The carrier organising the transit of cargo, earlier sanctioned, through the territory of Russia to third countries, is obliged to equip the container with a navigation seal. It can be a seal of any manufacturer (operator), but it must meet the certain requirements,” said the assistant of Maxim Akimov to the Interfax news agency.
Traffic control system
Besides the new requirements, the Russian authorities will also develop a new traffic control system. The electronic seals will be its basement. The proposals for a new system is developed by the Ministry of Transport in cooperation with other responsible executive authorities. “It is necessary to provide the possibility of obtaining information from various seals that are not necessarily functioning on the joint platform”, noted Akimov.
