With all due respect, that's like saying if my auntie had b***s she'd be my uncle. We have a system which is as it is, wrongly so( as you have repeated ) but that is a fact, so saying, I would offer a strong buy opinion, as a no brainier, if things were different, seems a bit strange, as things aren't different ( or as they should be) that's all I am trying to say. Sorry for starting a conversation.

As far as I'm aware companies have an obligation under ft rules to respond to significate price movement, although this is not a rule, and significant price movements are generally moves of more than 10%+ or -. So I'm a wee bit intrigued too why no response, even a " we do not know of any reason for the price move" I'm not getting excited though, I've had this with Aviva, ( 3 or 4 times ) emg, cel, loads others too. Good luck Asos, even with 3 profit warnings, a huge earnings to share price ratio, a bit of spice might consolidate this in the low / mid twenties rather than the high teens and you never know,

We all make our choices, the point I haven't made very well is that I believe the share price should be higher, but just because AHL is performing better does not mean that the share price would rise proportionally. As far as the strong buy being a non brainwr, if you are so sure the mms are shorting this persistently why would you recommend a strong buy . I repeat, I am long ( like you) I beive in some market manipulation it IS WRONG ( like you ) but it is a FACT of life.

Typo, good dividend paying shares with room for growth. Many , my self probably included use the market manipulation card when the price moves in the opposite direction from what we want. Here's hoping we can consolidate around the 1.20 for now and reach £2.50 by the new year. ( I wish )

I agree that there will always be pre open market leaks, wether we like it or not, but I can't see many in this board selling for a gain or loss of a couple of pence. But it all depends on your strategy. I've posted a few times that many only become investors as they become tied in by successive buying and price dropping, and unless good dividend paint share with room for growth which I think this does, and they would rather trade for the quick buck.

We can't have it both ways, price drops due to market manipulation when AHL doing well AND price drops as the secret few are privy to leaked information, prior to open market being informed. Let's not forget that emg has had a 50% in a relatively short time. This breather and slight retrace could just be consolidation, and a new trading band 115- 120 area, rather than the 82-88 area of last year. Fingers crossed

Good morning, i can understand your frustration, re a well a stablished business, performing as well as it has done in recent times having its share price stagnate and retrace for no apparent reason, but I fear the references to intervention from the powers that be is very unlikely. I have only been visiting lse notice boards for 2 or 3 years and see similar comments over and over again, but I fear it is a fact of life that the average investor gets manipulated( as much as the share price ) . This IS and WILL BE an attractive place to invest , with good potential for capital growth and a healthy dividend, reason enough for me to stay long. I fear what we see as the sinister underbelly is in truth, sadly, the reality of the financial markets and we have to accept it grudgingly, let's not forget it wasn't that long ago that this was only 85p, or in fact £2.50. Good luck EMG and let's just hope that there has been no creative tesco style accounting here, or we are all doomed

Why would you recommend EMG as a buy if you are certain , or maybe even a little bit obsessed that this is being held down by shorters and mm 's manipulating. I am long here with an average of 120, having sold out earlier in the year, at 99p and bought back in from 110 to 125. This should come good, with the wonder algorithm seeming working more like it should do, as you have quite rightly mentioned. I think barring euro turmoil again, which is not an impossibility , we could see a re rating up towards the 130 area, but imagine if EMG approached the heady heights of 2 or 3 years ago. I'm cautiously optimistic ( I would live a cheeky take over rumour) Good luck, all we need is market stability IMO

So a bit drop if yes vote and a small bounce if yes? It's not that long ago that insurers plummeted on new pension withdrawal proposals, but it wasn't that long afterwards many hit their recent highs.

With an average of £26, I'm pleased with the rise from £22 region, but not sure the speculation is no more than empty page rumour by the press, if the £50 suggested bid figure was real, I'm sure we would have had more than a £3 rise, even allowing for profit takers, or those buying around the £29 , getting their investment back after their 25% fall and subsequent 30% rise. Personally I've but a mid term £40 mid term limit sell on these just in case, but will be very pleased if these slowly plod on back to pre fire range of £32 area.

Having re read the RNS announcing the canada business, and assuming the proposals go through on the return of the 73p it would appear that the share re rated value went up only half the amount of the value of the proposed special return, therefore in theory this should be around 450p area when the return of funds are confirmed. Would that be correct , all things being equal of course, which they often aren't.....?

So when voda paid their special divi was it like a normal divi payment, where the share price opened at a value of the previous closing price , minus the dividend paid., plus or minus any daily changes of course ? So in reality if it were tomorrow , it would open at 416( today's closing price ) minus the 5.6p divi, minus the 73p special payment , if made as a payment = 338p plus any moment of course ?

Lunatic The rise today was 31p. the special divi is purported to be more than twice that at around 73p. If price dropped after the payment as you suggest sl holders would actually be worse off, unless further rises occur of course. Notperfect, do you think that those holding spring ex the date will potentially benefit from the special payment , thereby giving new investors the opportunity to grab the windfall. I sold half my holding at 422p first thing and kept the other half as was/am unclear of what would happen.

I'm not sure, but I presume the special dividend would be paid to the holders on ex div date next week, but don't know really. I would be surprised if those that bought in on the rise today or tomorrow, wouldn't get the divi ( which is why the price rose at it became more disirable ) likewise if you sold today you wouldn't get it. But if you buy post ex div date I wouldn't think you would get it, after all it is a dividend, albeit a special one .

these are the keys to successful growth in my opinion. Hotels being positioned at more, can i say, down to earth venues will increase sales many fold. The attractive and informative web site is very user friendly which helps.All i think that is needed now and it is really the big key, is the public being aware of the accommodations on offer, wether it be younger customs at festivals and music event, (not just the acts) or older clients at multi day sporting events, be it Racing festivals or events like the great north run, london marathon,etc, where large volumes of people travelling large distances need good facilities on site.

So between. 12 and 14 p in total . I would be well pleased with that.

So what do you calculate the whole divi might be, including the special ( if it comes)

who knows, we might have news about this mysterious potential special dividend, but probably not. i like your optomism with a prediction of around 8p, (nearly 10% of current share price), If that were announced one would expect the share price to rise quite substantially. Share price was around 130 early last summer, if/when it reaches that, my target will be achieved. This is a frustrating share to own, but the dividends have been some consolation.
