SH's comments could have been better voiced but the situation remains as below:
There was a signed agreement between Russia and the Western World (sorry can't remember exactly how it was penned) that Ukraine would not be part of NATO and would in effectively be a buffer zone between East & West. No ballistic weapons to be sited and certainly no nukes.
WE - USA/UK/ NATO have not abided to that agreement and have continued to surround Russia. Frankly, with this provocation Putin was bound to do something. Whether this has played into the hands of USA I'm not sure, but Biden is saying they'll sell us Gas and Oil. Who'd have thought that?
I just hope Putin stops at the boarders where he is allegedly "peacekeeping". Any further and this could really kick off.
The problem is why did we (Europe) put all our Gas and Oil eggs in the Russian basket? Greed and cheap and most probably BENT as in brown envelopes were traded.
Putin knew we would be reliant on them which has helped him make the decision to invade.
Time has come to put Russia into full isolation and trade with other countries barring them. However, it's a case of too little TOO LATE. I just wonder if our politicians actually understand Global Economics?
Also, I need to send out my thoughts and prayers to those inside what's left of Ukraine and hope that they remain safe and well out of harms way. A big ask of course.
