gkb47 i didnt blame the west i said that its not as simple as simply blaming China. There are many reasons we are at this point.

The original virus was too **** to have been a bioweapon. This was a natural zoonosis which is why we are seeing it evolve over time to become better and better at infecting humans through genetic variants (essentially the spike didnt bind to the human receptor protein very efficiently in the original)

All work done so far to analyse and compare the genetic sequence of the virus to the immense amount of bioinformatic information out there so far also points away from it being man made.

Laying total blame at the door of China is a narrow view of whats happening.

Humanity caused this pandemic. A lot of Chinas environmental destruction is a symptom of the West moving manufacturing operations en masse there to make higher profit. Environmental destruction around the world guarantees this will not be the last pandemic of our lifetimes.

This is the quickest pandemic to ever travel the world due to mass travel via aviation. Western governments underestimated the power of the virus and refused to cut off unnecessary travel to prevent the spread.

It is likely wet market practices in China caused the zoonosis in this case but all of humanity is to blame for the elevated risk. While im thankful brilliant scientists across the globe have created vaccines in record time and new testing paradigms they treat the symptom not the cause.

Bottom line humans have to treat our planet better but the pessimist in me does not believe that will happen.
