I have had this on my watchlist for a while now and have decided I shall buy in Monday. I am a little nervous to invest a large amount as with 30 years experience in this sector I have seen many companies like this come and go but it appears that Toople do have something, although I am already classing this as high risk / reward.
My background in this industry began in 1989 as an apprentice with PABX systems before moving on over the years to work on behalf of Siemans, Plessy, Mitel, KC, Mercury, C&W, to name a few.
We had to use carriers, but in the early days in the London area it was Mercury or BT. Now there are 100s of carriers all offering different packages that own no infrastucture, the exception being Virgin & Kingston Comms of the Hull region.
Back in the day (1990s) a typical building with 200 extensions (Users) would have 50 - 100 incoming analogue lines, nowadays 1 x single mode fibre connecting to an IP phone system. The cost for the line installation is quite frankly astonishing given that fibre cable is so cheap contary to peoples belief. A typical 24 core single mode fibre costs only 28p per meter.
Historically this type of company either disappears or gets bought out by a big player like open reach. A few years ago, PlusNet, a Sheffield based private company floated and it was snapped it up for peanuts.(Look at it now)!
That said on a positive note the revenues look fantastic so whilst I may be viewed as a bit of a pessamist I do see the value in this great start up company, but exercising caution.
Good luck to everyone invested small or large.
