Wow, where do I sign up for a subscription Tiger?
What will you call this wonderful service?
May I suggest “Professor Hindsight’s Stock Cornucopia” - has a catchy ring to it :)
PS Thanks for the post of the Crisis on Wall St video Gnome, although have seem it all before I still find the assorted idiots defending themselves whilst blaming everyone else most amusing :)
Huh?
Why was I knocking Germany, I only said gas prices in Europe have sky-rocketed & maybe intimated that Europe brought this upon themselves by starting the Ukraine war & then imposing unfair sanctions on Russia (where were the sanctions on the US for its totally unreasonable invasion of Iraq - got to love the rules based system).
Where did I pick on Germany?
Have a look at European gas price chart below - I knew it was savage but didn’t realise just how savage! You reap what you sow.

Gnome, thank you for renewing my faith that not all people blindly accept ludicrous western propaganda - below is an interesting recent follow up by John Mearsheimer - well worth a watch :)

The sources you quote are as one-eyed as you.
If you are foolish enough to believe that just because they may be registered charities & claim impartiality that they really are it is pointless trying to convince you otherwise.
You automatically state that all information released by Russian sources is lies spread by government sources yet you also automatically accept that all information released by the sources you favour is the truth, the whole truth & nothing but the truth.
I feel it is you who need to wake up, you will find that in most instances a very significant portion of the funding your impartial charities receive comes from CIA front groups, foundations backed by parties such as the Koch brothers and other such protectors of the truth.
I fear we are straying from the true purpose of this forum & accordingly shall defer to your wisdom & withdraw from this exchange - enjoy the rest of your weekend :)
Yes Tibbs, and that is so different to how the media works in western nations isn’t it.
There is a revolving door between the White House & other government media offices & the so called independent media, if you dare to step outside the government mandated narrative you are blocked from participating in media events, look what has been done to Julian Assange, because he revealed abhorrent war crimes committed by the US he has essentially been denied his basic right to freedom & indeed his life.
I really think it would be wise for you to take a more open eyed & balanced view of how the world is being run instead of just accepting the standard line that the West is good & stands for freedom and anyone or any nation that does not kowtow to the West’s diktats is evil & needs to be curtailed or destroyed.
Examine history & the behaviour of the Western nations - colonialism, slavery, robbery of the natural resources of weaker developing nations - maybe you then you will moderate your one eyed attitude to the so called “rules based system”.
I have had quite a number of dealings with Macquarie & can say from my experience that they are a professional, high calibre operation but they do not tend to stick their snouts into company’s operations unless they see some healthy fee opportunities on the horizon.
That would certainly suggest that something is afoot, whether that be capital or debt raising or potential M & A activity & how advanced those movements are is anyone’s guess but Macquarie would not be sniffing around for nothing :)
The invasion of Ukraine was prompted by NATO coercing Ukraine to become a member - an aggressive & expansionary act which NATO & US advisors had counselled against for years.
Under NATO’s charter the admission of new members has to lead to increased security for both the new member & NATO as a whole - how did that work out?
Perhaps you are the one being taken in by US/NATO propaganda and would be well served by looking at both sides of the conflicts points of view instead of blindly accepting what you are spoon fed by western media?
The conditions that we have brought upon ourselves in the world all point to gold going up significantly however the gold price has the most economically evil cartel of the US Fed/Treasury & the ECB to contend with.
They will continue to pull the strings of the BIS, gold traders, bullion banks, etc. to try desperately to ensure that the gold price does not beak out as they are fully aware that a significant rise in the price of gold is a demonstration of the destruction of the value of the key “reserve” currencies rather than any change in the intrinsic value of the gold itself.
They will not be able to maintain this charade forever but I fear they will be able to string it out for quite some time to come.
Does anyone really believe that the US/NATO pushed Russia into the invasion of Ukraine for any other reason than destabilising Russia? One of their significant motivations to destabilise Russia is to try to prevent/postpone the push by Russia & China to establish a pan Asian gold backed currency which would almost certainly lead to a major rerating of the $US gold price.
The US hegemony is coming to its end (which I for one welcome) but they will fight tooth & nail to maintain it & unfortunately may well end up driving us to WW3 - they have come close previously when not in such dire circumstances.
I find the quote “2021 will be seen as a transformational year for the company” to be a little bit off the mark - it is certainly not my view of the year :)
I find it a bit over the top to continue to blame previous management for the current managements inability to rectify the situation. At least the previous lot were able to dig a good amount of gold out of the ground & build up a nice big pile of cash which has been very handy - the current lot have done nothing but make empty promises that things will get better.
Hi Jdm
A chunk of my holdings are certificated as I bought them when CNT was still listed on ASX, I have been paid on those, the others I hold are through Commsec which has also paid - ANZ are talking *******s, give them a serve :)
Bit weird CELTF closed at USD 1.00 which is about 80p, compared to CEY close the arbitrage spread is now over 4% - I know trade in CELTF is thin & it is a pink sheet/OTC stock but the spread does not normally gap out so far. Anyone have any thoughts, being tucked away in the antipodes I don’t have a full grasp on the vagaries of your markets?
Thanks for clarifying that Cowichan, a buy-back of that magnitude wouldn’t overly damage our reserves and may help the share price, it certainly wouldn’t hurt - if the directors don’t want to put their own money in they can at least tip in some more of ours :)
As for the latest motto it is just another example of idiots jumping on whatever the latest bandwagon is and forgetting what they are actually paid to do.
Hi Cowichan
I agree with nearly all of your points (including previous posts) but I would not like to see a share buyback entered into as yet despite the glaring opportunity to benefit shareholders.
The big pile of cash we have (which I remind all was accumulated by the previous oft maligned management) is the only thing that has enabled us to get through this ludicrously drawn out remedial process.
I tend to err on the cautious side, wait until we actually see the repeated promises of productivity improvements come to fruition before we spend our lovely cash buffer.
Horgan’s hints towards the raising of debt at this stage scares me, this has the potential to completely destroy the value of what is a magnificent in-ground asset.
I understand completely your desire to take advantage of what a lot of us see to be a chronically undervalued share price but feel that the erosion of our cash buffer that a buy-back would require creates too great a level of risk compared to the reward.
All the best & please keep fighting for those of us too lazy to take other than a passive approach :)

Why do we need any form of legislation in this area which essentially is simply a form of censorship? Why can’t we expect people to exercise a modicum of common sense in processing what they read/see on social media instead of blindly following it? Is it that we as a society have just become mindless morons?
(You need not answer the last question I think that one is obvious)
Well fancy that, the “hero” who encourages untrained civilians to pick up sub-standard weapons & fight trained soldiers whilst sitting comfortably in his presidential palace also may like to stick his snout in the trough :)
Hi Nick
My proof is what I see with my own eyes, I prefer to rely on that rather than accepting the spoon-fed opinions of any media organisation - they are all biased and one-eyed no matter which end of the spectrum they toady to.
The US expansionary policy has been in place since WW2 - think of Korea, Vietnam, Cuba, Chile, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria and so and so on - anyone who dares to not tug the forelock to US supremacy pays the price!
Is the US ever condemned for its illegal & attrocious acts, does the world come out & impose sanctions? The answer is no because the major international bodies such as the UN, Nato, IMF, World Bank etc. are all controlled or heavily influenced by the US through economic or other forms of coercion and/or blackmail.
Recently there has been great consternation over China executing a co-operative agreement with Solomon Islands as the Western world fears this will lead to potential military bases - why is there no concern that the US has around 750 military bases spread throughout the world?
As long as the US continues to receive support for its abject hypocrisy we will be pushed forever closer to a nuclear conflict which will screw us all - we got close with the Cuban missile crisis, the US saw it as all OK to stick their nuclear missiles in Turkey right next to Soviet territory but when the Soviet Union responded in kind & put missiles in Cuba they crossed a red line!
I could continue on ad-infinitum about the injustices the US has inflicted on the rest of the world militarily, economically & socially in order to benefit themselves & their vested interests but fear my rant does not really belong on this forum - it is just a response to your valid question.
I do not support Russia's invasion of Ukraine in any way, shape or form but by the same token I believe that the US should accept responsibility for creating the situation. There was no sensible reason for Ukraine joining Nato, it was a foolish & provocative act backed primarily by economic interests which, unfortunately, is par for the course when it comes to the US.
Yes Gnome, it seems quite obvious the US intended to cause a conflict in Ukraine using the puppet comedian to do their bidding & further line the pockets of Raytheon, McDonnell-Douglas, etc. Even if Putin didn’t take the bait they would have got another NATO member forced to devote a percentage of its GDP to the same crowd.
We may well benefit from a fairly likely strengthening of gold price but the ordinary Ukrainian & ordinary Russian citizens will pay a ludicrously heavy price.
I am always a bit disappointed on our Anzac Day Gnome, the commonly used phrase “lest we forget” is a slap in the face to those who lost their lives in a stupid conflict when you examine the continuing behaviour of the human race - “why don’t we remember” would be more appropriate.
