Modest rise as expected, SP should navigate in this range for a while with a spike around ex div date. The journey continues.......
Good news is that support on the 290 is robust, we will speeding past resistance soon. considerind to add a small amount to use as a floater with the background noise but don't really have the time to invest. Happy with the div for now.
Hi, I firmly believe Mr Looney has lost at least 10 billion of share holder value in his desire to steer BP away from its core values. I wonder whether in light of the buoyant oil price the asset writedowns of last year will have to be visited.
I for one have watched BP management with dismay over the years, with one exception Mr Bob.
The couldn't stop a coffee spill on a desk springs to mind. It's no wonder the fund managers have lost faith.
Ps. My losses are in excess of 300k so I watch very carefully.
Cheers."
Be thankful to the man if you still have something to grasp on and still in the game for another decade. Some people!
Present! "...As i am sure someone is feasting off my dumped IAG stock.." small entry few week back.
"For newbies, this is a fantastic time to build a long-term position ideally in an ISA."
Wise words. You get to build a good portfolio at a once in a lifetime discount price. Please remember that this is a divident stock, keeping that in mind will help you understand why when a share is massively undervalued you just buy, no ins and out. Compounding will take care of the rest. Due your homework meticulously.
The in and out on a 2% variance is just not for me, either I see value on the share or I don't .I usually try not to get caught up in the background noise unless major events demand for a strategy review.Piled up massively on shares when in the 192 region and within budget discipline. I can focus on other profit opportunities now and not worry about the peanuts. Better value for my time.
Not a fan of the art but well done. Chapeau.
Not so sure slicing is a good idea either for what is coming in Q4...unless you need cash. If you need to free up cash quickly you are doing something wrong with the bankroll management, basically you are gambling.
Ps: for the full V recovery you have to look elsewhere and not on the LSE I believe.
"..... they were valued a year ago and if they give back to those levels"
I am afraid that that is not going to happen anytime soon. We have to wait and see how the net zero plan pans out in few years.
A month? Ok
Look, the only thing I can think of right now is the wolf of wall Street speech scene.
I Showed some remarkable committment when in the 190 region, had also few heated discussions about our CEO with few fellow posters, I am going all the way and squeeze every penny out of it. A 10/15 % profit is not ok for me in a once in a lifetime opportunity. Thank God we had Looney on the driving seat by the way.
I don't understand the BP short term hold strategy. Why getting in in the first place ? day trade gone wrong?
Happy, are you still going to slice on the way up to 365 or is that you holding from now on?
Slice? BP's most interesting game of all time is about to start and you are exiting the arena? To put the money where exactly ?
"But patiently holding is what makes the big return. Why endure months of nervous watching only to bail with a little profit. The stress is almost not worth it. Hold and in the meantime shares like BP are still paying decent dividends. I'm staying put. 500 before i consider selling a part, but even then, unless there is a better alternative...."
Wise wise words. My sell button is grayed out only buys until the end of 2021.

@big Bax
Good to read you again. This time it's the comeback of all times. Have faith
Geez Happy, "Chevron is my favourite because an acquisition of BP "..... tasty ,like mayonnaise on watermelons.
As for the TA chaps same old story, two different school of thought. My personal opinion is that TA serves better when things are not spinning as they are, valuable approach in more predictable times if you like. I stick to value and fundamentals as My TA knowledge is limited but I do recognise that money can be made recognising patterns. BP is just value for me.
BOMBOCLAT
"Agree, with Brent over 63, this current valuation of BP is a joke. IMO"
That's value investing 1O1, buckle up.
@ Smithy
"So timing is everything with them?"
Is it not always the case when trading?
Plenty of resources out there. EU and US options works slightly different but same thing in principle. Investopedia has a good starting pack on the subject.
