Modern Water plc (AIM:MWG), the owner of leading water technologies for the production of
fresh water and monitoring of water quality, has recently completed the installation of its first
Microtox® Continuous Toxicity Monitors (CTM) in Poland. The client, Aquanet S.A. operates
water and wastewater treatment plants for the city of Poznań, located in Western Poland and
commissioned the installation of two Microtox® CTMs at their drinking water treatment plant.
The two Microtox® CTM’s are being used on-site to continuously monitor the quality of the
water abstracted at two different water intakes on the Warta river.
The Microtox® CTM provides rapid and early warning of contamination of thousands of
known chemicals. It is unique in its field as it is able to give an instant indication of water
health by taking two samples per second, significantly reducing false alarms as well as being
able to detect brief events. This allows Aquanet to ensure that the quality of its water intake
is reliable and should an alarm be triggered by a contamination event, that containment
measures can quickly be put in place.
Doug Workman, President of the Monitoring division, said “We are extremely pleased to be
working with Aquanet, to help the company ensure safe drinking water for over half a million
people in the city of Poznań. Our Polish distributor, Tigret, together with our European Sales
Manager have worked hard to secure these sales in this new territory for the Microtox® CTM
and we hope that this will be the first installation of many in Poland, especially once other
water companies witness the benefits the Microtox® CTM can bring to a water treatment
operation.
