I think you are right Gus, I think he has just massively slowed his rate of buying because of the effect it was having on the price. Just a point, under normal circumstances we would expect mid year update next month, although due to lateness of finals I would not be surprised if it is October.
....that said, the west can surely not now go back to relying on russian oil and gas in at least the short to medium term, that means other sources are required, if there is ever a time when finds like Darwin are likely to attract interest, it has to be now. Just my opinion, there are never any guarantees until it happens...or doesnt.
Companies like Halliburton are service providers, drilling and infrastructure experts, you can google them to get a good idea of what they do. Borders are a small exploration company, historically companies like Borders make a find, which they have in Darwin, then a larger company comes in and partners them on the largely derisked project. The main two issues in the Falklands, in my opinion, are that it is a virgin basin ie. One where there is not yet any production and many of the potential partners in the mid cap oil companies and the super majors are off the table due to commitments in Argentina. Just for the record, I am no oil expert either. ATB.
I think you miss the point of what Argentina uses the Falklands argument for, as a distraction to epic failures and corruption in their own country, for that their leaders find the issue invaluable, since its the one issue that unites virtually everybody, they will not give that up, economic logic doesnt come into it.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but when the only reason for expressing that opinion is to bait or irritate others you really should take a long look at yourself, there are are far too many people like that on social media.
I think some of us expected this might happen, he is happy to bide his time before increasing his holding, rather than push it and pay more than he has to, the only thing that would make me reassess is if he started to sell, but no sign of that.
Stebbing was not the only problematic drill in the SFB, Humpback was also challenging for FOGL, and I am still not sure I trust the results which were released by the drill operator Noble. There are clearly commercial hydrocarbons in the basin, we know that, for me the main issue has always been will anyone take on the challenges of a virgin basin in an area where there has in the past been political uncertainty from Argentina and no existing infrastructure.
Looking at this day to day can drive you nuts, unless you are looking to buy and sell slices for small profits just remember the bigger picture, if you believe the prospects are better now than at any time since the discovery, as I do, then ground yourself on that belief and be patient.
If Brimacombe had stuck with just the three percent he bought in January it would be much easier to dismiss this as a punt, but he hasnt, in my view he either knows someone Borders have been talking to or has heard through his connections that someone is interested in Borders
I think the revised technicals, making this attractive to a partner with less deep pockets could be very significant. We are three months into this new world of energy supply, for new investments oil companies will still be getting their ducks in order....patience is still the key.
I never really expected the news we wanted in a scheduled rns, there was always a valid reason for results to be delayed. However two facts remain unaltered, we have a new investor who appears still to be buying and the global situation for energy supplies has totally changed from what it was at the start of the year. The board have no obligation to give us more information than they have until a deal is done, this lot have always been very coy, they have told us the bare minimum, that the farm in process is continuing.
In my experience some people dont need a reason to antagonise others on these sites, its how they get their kicks, which is why I like to call people out on their logic if I think they are posting just for that reason.
