One has to be extremely careful with deep wells. As the mud is returned to the surface the weight of the mud holding back the oil decreases, so in order to stop the well blowing out the return rates have to be controlled.
You are confusing drilling mud return rates with oil flow rates. The well isn't flowing yet. There is nigh on 5 kilometres of extra heavy drilling mud to get out of the well before the oil flows.
