The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring Jeremy Skillington, CEO of Poolbeg Pharma has just been released. Listen here.
I thank the NHS and all involved in my recovery from pneumonia/sepsis at the age of 72 but please spare my pets the Thursday 7pm clapping using fireworks. Thank you. GLA.
Many thanks to all those key workers in all capacities who saved me from pneumonia/sepsis at the age of 72 but please spare
a thought for my pets, please no more weekly fireworks. Thank you.GLA.
Last year at the age of 72, I was extremely lucky to have survived pneumonia/sepsis and that is thanks to all in and connected with the NHS. I am happy to join in with the Thursday clapping but do all those pets have to suffer fireworks. It is a time for thinking of others without being intrusive. GLA.
Brainstorming over a pandemic scenario in 2016 was shelved due to austerity, public horror etc! Jeremy Hunt will be quizzed by Nick Ferrari on LBC after 9am this morning. Currently, he takes people to task for the present virus inadequacies. I would like to hear how is going to squirm his way out of this one. More obfuscation coming thick and fast, I bet.
Why do I buy a modest amount of GGP shares? I want a little of what that top 0.1% have. I delude myself that It is the only way I can, at my time of life. I want a little share of that capitalistic society but as Nigel Farage says, "don't kid yourself that you are living in a capitalistic society, you are just cannon fodder for those running what is now, a corporate society!"
Nick Ferrari grilled a Government representative on LBC radio this morning who prevaricated over our poor testing regime.
"We're doing this, we're doing that, there's a shortage of the necessary chemicals etc etc"
Nick Ferrari, who does not suffer fools gladly, came straight back, "Minister, have you heard of the firm Novacyt? How come they have sold 14 million tests abroad and a million to the UK? There is no shortage of chemicals!"
Seance. Do all the usual; less fats, more exercise etc. Porridge every morning brought my systolic (upper) reading down by five points, believed to clear some of the crud from arterial walls and good for diabetes too. AFC up, blood pressure down.
More heresay from me because that is all I can do, being voluntary confined to barracks at 73. A doctor, walking through London after a gruelling 18 hour shift, sees 20-30 year olds standing shoulder to shoulder in a wine bar. That medic knows that one virus carrier will infect five others who will each go on to infect five more. Nothing will show up from these morons and their innocent victims for days when it is far too late. Oh, now we are ramping up testing when it could have been taken, more seriously, weeks if not months ago!
Some of us are a bit jumpy ATM but a talk show host said that someone in high places (heresay) stated that there is no shortage of PPE (personal protective equipment) for the NHS. THis is contrary to what many are experiencing in the field of medecine.
"PPE is being stockpiled!" If the Government, in the coming days, come riding over the hill to the rescue then someone has been 'misleading' us and I will give you only one guess.
With EUA and me in limbo, I have done a very naive calculation for you. Having factored in the virus effect on all my holdings, the euphoria prior to suspension and a conservative estimate that EUA was to have surged 10x, I am 'hoping' for a
bottom line of around 60p.
I am not a Conservative but I feel Boris is not listening to his two medical henchmen. The World's leading virologists are screaming for widespread testing as the starting point.
Stand Boris alongside Rishi Sunak, the new Chancellor of the Exchequer, and who exudes confidence and leadership as
opposed to bluster and Churchillian catchphrases?
At my age, I accept that my imminent four month isolation will help flatten the Intensive Care 'peak' but then what?
Stockpiling in my absence? My next bout of pneumonia?
At least I will have my NCYT shares for comfort. GLA.
We may not agree with some of the Chinese methods for virus control but, after a slow start, it looks like they are ahead of the game. Bringing four day testing down to four hours allows them to track a much smaller circle of possibly contaminated people. We appear to be giving up on any degree, bar self policing, of containment and 'hoping' we can reduce/flatten or delay a peak until the summer. Having been well looked after for pneumonia/sepsis last summer, I know the amount of resources afforded to me. The government cannot flatten/draw out any future 'peak' because our overstretched NHS are facing a mountain every day!
Anecdotaly, if you are sure you have the coronavirus, NHS 111 tell you to contact your GP. The GP tells you to phone NHS 111. Why are we not testing widely? Why have the GPs not got their promised Personal Protective Equipment?
Don't worry chaps, Boris's cavalry is coming to the rescue with HERD IMMUNITY!
How long and how many of us 'oldies' are going to be sacrificed to provide herd immunity! Herd immunity is not holding back the measles' tide! Now is time to bite the bullet; spend the money: pay for testing kits: equip NHS staff with PPE.
Vaccines need time to develop and time is not on our side.
Tandara, There is an old military maxim, "time spent in reconnaissance is seldom wasted."
Perhaps I should have done so! Thank you.
I hold a small amount of IKA shares but my IG Dealing Platform is showing now an 'Open Offer' of 71 shares. There is neither an RNS nor a notification from IG. Please excuse my ignorance but Is IKA trying to raise capital or are there 'sinister' moves afoot?
I am no longer frustrated waiting for positive news. EUA remains a frozen blue beacon of hope in My Watchlist's sea of red.
Why does the current EUA hiatus bring out the worst in people or is it just Newton's third law of motion? ....."to every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction."
