According to the article, Wres is now an Australian company, funny that. Why I posted it though, it shows just how rich the Extramadura region is in several resources and how many companies want to get their grubby mitts on them. So if MM does have a plan for the placing money, he's spoilt for choice and it's all on La Parrillas doorstep, so to speak. Maybe come Monday, all will become clear?

Apart from “Valdeflores”, the mine for which the company Teconología Extremeña del Litio SL has apply for exploiting licenses, there are others mining projects of lithium near Alburquerque (30 minutes from Badajoz), Piedra Albas (Cáceres), and in Sierra de Gata region (north of the province of Cáceres).
There are different projects which are in research phase with the aim of extracting uranium in northeast Cáceres; gold, tungsten, zinc and silver in Logrosán- Trujillo area (Cáceres); zinc, copper and lead in Puebla de la Reina (Badajoz); tungsten, bismuth, cobalt and gold in Oliva de la Frontera (Badajoz), as well as gold in Casas de Don Pedro, La Codosera and Valencia de Alcántara, in the mine of “María Rosa”.
In addition to the previous ones, there are others research projects, as stands several coltan, niobium and tantalum fields in Sierra de Gata; or tin, tungsten, niobium and tantalum near Torrecillas de los Ángeles.
Following a document elaborated by Junta de Extremadura called “Extremadura, mining region” the background of those projects are formed for several big and multinational companies as Valoriza Minería (Sacyr), Mineral Exploration Network, Forbes&Manhattan, Ormond Mining or Mubdala and Trafigura.
Carlos Alcalde, who is the geographer and technician of the Department of Economy and Infrastructure of Junta de Extremadura, considers that Extremadura is characterized for its great geological value, counting with more than 1,500 mining registered first signs of iron, copper, lead, zinc, gold, silver, tungsten, tin, antimony, lithium, rare earth, and uranium.

85 projects have obtained investigation licenses from Junta de Extremadura and other 49 are exploitation license pending.
Mining multinationals have focused in Extremadura, therefore 230 new projects are in process in order to strip mining several metals such as gold, iron, copper or tungsten, and others employed in electronic devices as coltan or lithium.
According to the data obtained from the Department of Economy and Infrastructure of Extremadura and compiled by the System of Geological an Mining Information (SIGEO), there are 85 project with licenses in the region, currently. On the other hand 62 projects are waiting for the license approval and 49 are exploiting license pending, corresponding 34 to aggregate extraction, which are license pending as well.
Mining regulation states that any business which wants to exploit a new field has to apply for an investigation license and to gain the exploitation license, for what the company has to draw a restoration plan.
In 2017, Extremadura had 159 active mines with gross production of 4.56 million of tons. This figure could be duplicated if all pending projects would be in compliance with law and conceded.
Due to strategic reasons, there are two fields which rely on the State: nickel and copper mine “Aguablanca” near town of Monesterio, and tungsten mine near town of La Parrilla (Almoharin, Cáceres).
The first one has 3.45 million tons of mineral reserves. According to the data of Junta de Extremadura, it is not active nowadays. However, it could became the first mine in the region which is exploited through underground passages in case of Valoriza Minería S.L. (subsidiary of Sacyr and the company which exploits the mine) decides to reinitiate the activity, having environmental license at present.
In this sense, the mine of La Parrilla is considered to be one of the biggest tungsten fields in the western world. It is operated by Iberian Resources Spain S.L. which is a subsidiary of the Australian group W Resources PLC. Currently, it is in operation, and it has calculated reserves of 29.8 million tons of tungsten.
Related to new projects which are license pending; “Las Herrerías” or “Gato Montés” should be pointed out. Those ones are in Alconchel (30 minutes far from Badajoz) and there are copper, iron and gold fields with reserves of 8.17 million tones. Their research works are in advanced stage.
Lithium mine “Valdeflores”, with initial reserves of 92.6 million tones, in Montaña de Cáceres (a neighborhood of the city of Cáceres) is very controversial because of its environmental impact due to the proximity to the city of Cáceres which has been declared of Heritage of Humanity.

Dont forget that there are Lithium deposits not far from LP. We could make our own batteries just in time for the Crimbo rush and no radiation problems id imagine?

Of course, we are assuming only 8 bags cos that's all we can see on the lorry, there may have been more further back out of shot, think I'll ask Justine to find out for defo.

Stealthy, those bags when full hold approx 0.75m3. To me they look about 0.25% full, so I've calculated it to be just over 1tonne per bag X 8. All guess work I know, but 1 tonne is the safe working capacity of each bag (as far as I remember).
