In the 1946 film, The Best Years of Our Lives, a US Air Force veteran walks through a vast scrapyard full of redundant WW2 aircraft that are being scrapped. As a lot of you will know, in the US in particular, there are vast amounts of military and civilian aircraft, transport vehicles lying in desert scrapyards all waiting their turn for the crusher. What i would find horrific, is that when this pandemic is finally conquered, there are mountains of nearly new beds, respirators , PPE etc in fields and warehouses waiting to be either sold or scrapoed because the NHS now has no use or no hospital space to use them. It's a problem which will inevitably occur but one which has yet to be even given consideration at this time. I just hope it all ends up being used and maintained for many years to come?
