Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
I thought the latest RNS was cracking, surprised the market hasn't responded more positively, thought we'd be pushing past 20p now. The fact that we've proved rees can be cleanly separtion will be worth serious ESG greenie points once operations commence. Elsewhere, clean separation is very expensive, or you just don't care and pollute- but that is only really an option in China- Elsewhere in the world there would be eco opposition of varying degrees.
Perhaps George ought get himself Tweeting positive vibes on Twitter. I'm in Predator- PRD, our new head of operations has started doing just that. Whether it's helped who knows? but the share price is flying at the moment.
Ireland- at risk of appearing obsessive in my contempt for Eamon Ryan.. Power stations aside, some 20% of homes in the Irish Midlands burn peat as their primary domestic fuel. I'd assumed enterprising rustics were cutting free turf from the bogs and drying in their sheds and barns.
In fact, peat briquettes are still being produced and sold to the public (up until 2024) by three companies. One of these is Bord na Mona, a semi-state owned company.
I wonder if his new found Costa Riccan and Danish friends in the eco cartel know that his government is indulging in a practice that releases more CO2 than burning coal or oil. At the same time, he was dissing natural gas, as a transition fuel as if were the breathe of Satan...

Just checked Bulletin Board Heroes, I guessed we'd feature, Zak certainly likes to crow about it when he's made a good call.
Another custy shout out, now looking at 12-14p by end of month with resistance at 7.8p. Zak has an uncanny knack of being thereabouts right- never sure whether genius or his herd of followers are a self fulfilling prophecy but either way, great news..
Hold onto your hats ladies and gents, the main show is about to begin...
Sorry- can't post vox links, sure you all capable of finding if you wish to listen..
There were many articles in the Irish press when the 'last two' peat burning power stations in The Midlands permanently closed in Dec 2020. Some from a green angle other articles 'end of an era stuff' but all were in agreement it was a good thing for the environment. However, I recently saw a report that refered to 'the last two exclusively peat burning power stations'.
Turns out another power station, Edenberry, which presently generates 2.5% of Ireland's capacity uses both biomass and peat, aiming to be fully converted to biomass by 2024.
I honestly can't believe Eamon Ryan had the brass neck to parade around on the world stage at COP26 portraying himself as an eco saviour greener than Greeta.
More evidence of Eamon's ineptitude
Last Autumn a plan for six emergency generators outside Dublin was abandoned - because his department said, unnecessary, as the two off- line plants, Huntstown and Whitegate would be back up and running by winter.

Not so......see below, the plans were actually abandoned because of a challenge to the tender/procurement process (or more to the point, a lack of one)
I'll be surprised if forthcoming auctions run without a hitch, a lot of cash to play for and a spot of bad blood before its started.

An additional 1,167 mgawatts looks pretty impressive, an increase of around 15% on capacity 2020. However, Ireland needs these power stations built just to keep treading water.
The two peat power stations closed Dec 2020 generated 200 mw, Tarbet oil fired power station(500 mw) is due to close Dec 2023 due to EU regulations and Whitegate (450 mw) is still down.
Moneypoint, coal burning and Ireland's largest power station should have been closing next year but has a repreive until 2025 as they simply can't do without.
Ps. Tarbet was originally due to close in 2010, (before eco heat was seriously on) because it was old, inefficient and dangerous. Reliance on a creaking infrastructure, no LNG importation facilities and reliance on a nation that soon may have no spare to sell must be very worrying.
The two peat power stations shut down in 2020 accounted for 3% of total capacity. Headline grabbing, showed how serious the government was about going green, plus of course, the Brucie Bonus of keeping Green politicians on message and Green voters on side.
We all know peat is bad news but to burn oil and coal instead for want of gas, (because gas exploration is bad,) is not much better. Ireland is an eco nightmare hiding under a veil of deceit. The EU can produce stats and wag fingers regarding feedstock to power stations but are powerless when it comes to how people heat their homes. Some 20% of homes in the Irish Midlands still burn peat..
Reading this Trifle, looks like we could be using our T & T expertise to capture carbon from Ireland's dirty polluting coal and oil power plants that they dare not yet close down and hopefully use it for EOR. Greenie points and energy security, if we could help.them extend the life of Corrib. Ireland could well benefit on both counts.
This is of course in addition to the FSRU opportunities that seem to be popular with everyone bar Eamon- and of course Corrib South/Ram's Head.
Opportunities abound. I got the impression with last September's presentation, that after decades of hard work battling politicians and bureaucracy in Ireland it could be the Jewel in Paul's Crown.
Good luck everyone, I'm sure Lonny is going to be worth every penny of his £7m when we hit £1 in 18 months time...
Have to agree agree Billy Ray re PR. I disagreed with Sefton because I honestly thought no PR company could be so low key unless part of a ultra cunning master plan that involved radio silence.
I'm now coming around to believe that Flagstaff aren't good at banging the drum in between RNSs and presenting a steady flow of positive news. Even posting links to articles in the Irish or Moroccan press or industry journals that help our cause would be a start.
Irish Farmers Journal backing NFE planning application, a powerful lobby to have onside..shame not our application being backed but never mind, a move in the right direction for a nation with very little energy security..

Article re Europe using LNG as an alternative to Russian gas. As if it were that simple, no mention of the lack of importation infrastructure in Ireland..
Still, any reminders to keep Ireland's politicans and senior civil servants thinking about their precarious energy situation is good news.

Wondering whether the current situation with Ukraine will concentrate US minds on just how vulnerable their military is regarding the ree supply.
I keep reading China has 70- 80% ree mines but 80-90% processing capacity, or thereabouts. The latter figure is absolute nonsense as there are only two plants current procession outside China I.e. Malaysia and Estonia. More like 99%...
This time blaming Biden and environmentalists- whilst not helping, reporter forgets to mention the fact that Mountain Pass was allowed to fail many years ago by the US govt.. Non state intervention capitalism is the US way- their rigid free market philosophy is really coming to bite them now...

That's exactly my reading Chem- both parties now know exactly where they stand- presume this is a gentlemanly mutual agreement- now down to business with no uncertainty..
Onwards and upwards...
All good publicity, should be hitting a few more mining industry and critical metal related business journals over the coming days.

Great article Liveinhope, eyes on Morocco and four UK companies in there helping to make conversion to gas work. Gas isn't great but not as if the alternative is wind or solar just yet.. As Morocco is burning so much coal and oil we really are helping the environment massively as they journey to renewables in the next 20-30 years.
Ditto Ireland, with coal, oil and peat when hopefully a similar situation will emerge as in Morocco. CHAR have entered a proven field discovered by Repsol, should Ireland's government see sense, we will soon be entering a proven field discovered by Marathon. The big boys may well be regretting not holding onto those licences now that gas is more expensive and has become an acceptable transition fuel.
Good Luck everyone, long term holders and newbies fortunate enough to get in at these bargain basement prices..We get the drill from.SDX first of June, if nothing untoward happens we should see a slow steady increase over the next 20 or so weeks on Morocco alone. Good news from T & T would be a nice little Brucie bonus but good news from Ireland re FSRUs or Corrib South/Ram's Head and we could have a serious jump to boot...
13 Jan- another pragmatic article in The Irish Times on the need for gas power stations. There's been a continual drip drip of energy 'wake up' articles in the Irish quality press over the past year.
Surely this must have some effect on the collective consciousness of Ireland's politicans and decision makers?

I missed this- 6 Jan, First Amber alert of this year in Ireland. Whitegate power station is still down, been over a year now, quicker they get the new gas power stations built the better..
A decision on LNG FSRUs sometime soon surely?

Indeed B4now, I've no spare cash but a big fan of Adonis and have been itching to get in CHAR, just managed £2k for myself and a £1k for my nephew so better than nothing. CHAR could indeed ten bag from here long term.
I'm in RBW, Rainbow Rare Earth, also in Africa and Adonis is the biggest shareholder. EV engines and more importantly, wind turbines magnets need rare earth elements. CHAR moving big into wind in Mauritania...
Marvellous news, let's hope it passes. Can't see why not, Dems are very touchy about being seen as un American and non patriotic. Plus it's a bi partisan bill, the US public will appreciate a little sensible, old school, national.interest political co-operation.
