Duster, if they just ramp the pressure right up the gas by-passes the oil without collection , in a sense the field needs a pre-wash setting rather than the quickest way through . When the gas mix permeates the shale it collects oil and then expands in volume, following the expansion the next wave of pressure ( miscible bank ) has more surface area to push against and hence more oil flow .

Good post eazy, it's important to realise that time must be allowed for the gas injectant to permeate through the oil bearing rock before it is then forced through for collection .

Anybody else considering postponing xmas for a few weeks to buy some more ? ;)

You don't need to be mystic meg to see the potential here , it's very hard to look at the situation objectively if you have researched well, without seeming to ramp . Instead of thinking in absolutes of failure and success , try thinking of the likelihoods and probabilities of what the outcome is going to be here , check out the neighbours success, check out carbon capture , improved EOR rates over %70 , conflict around the world . During my research i deliberately looked for what can go wrong with miscible flooding , catastrophic failures etc, you know what, i could hardly find a thing , virtually nothing .

Personally i couldn't care less about the JV, i expect in all likelihood it will be a success and AM will pull it off , but if not, are we really to believe there are not others waiting in the wings eager to help out .
