The issue of the existence of gas fields in Georgia has become active again. Specialists and representatives of the state sector do not doubt the existence of certain "prospective resources" in the territory of our country, although most of them think that the reserves are not noteworthy. According to official data, there are about 50 fields where there is a prospect of oil and gas. Of these, 10 are black. There are structures on the sea shelf that are likely to hold oil and gas reserves.
The discovery of a large gas field in Turkey raises a little hope that, depending on the geographical location, there may be some strategic reserves, which the Oil and Gas Agency has repeatedly stated. At this stage, the agency is spreading information that they are planning to start seismic surveys in Samegrelo, Khobi district village Chaladid this year.
