@peck, another reason, which is much more likely is that ii's/funds have been loading up and increasing their holdings, as such its not uncommon for them to have a small % short as a hedge along with their long positions.
The increase in shorts just reinforces the much bigger increase in holdings from said ii's and funds.

@Tilly, shorts increased yesterday to 15.49 million, not updated today as yet, perhaps in a few hours.

Will do.
@lovelyboy, it usually is every 24 hours but a few weeks back it updated about 3 times in one day, which was weird.
As for whether these are traditional short positions or if CFDs spreadbets etc are all included is hard to know.
Who did you ask? Ortex or just a general enquiry in here?
Without paying the £70 a month subscription I doubt they would tell you, and I can't afford that :-(
I agree and I guess we are at the mercy of whether all shorts are reported. I believe there is a mechanism in play for short positions to be withheld but I'm not entirely sure of the agenda that supports it.
Ortex.com does at least change regularly so we have to assume it is updated to the best of their knowledge.
Won't matter soon enough hopefully anyway.
Slight increase in shorts of about 120k at the minute, maybe more later with an update.
Can you see any other trades like the one you highlighted earlier regarding the shorts?
@CAW, interesting and thanks for that it is something I was very not aware. I would've assumed anyone opening a short would very much like it kept under the radar.
Positive RNS next week and we are flying.
Pure guess work, @giant steps I would assume it would be printed as a buy, simples, there will be no tag attached suggesting it was a short closed, equally any sell "could" be a short opening or increasing.
@ lovelyboy, someone suggested in the telegram group your chart hinted at shorts closing, they have increased today slightly so perhaps it'll show up later or tomorrow with update. Be interesting to compare.

@monty/rowka, there's the proof! You now talking $hite about selling out at 28p and opening a "large" short at 27p. Who was it with?
It's about as believable as you being in special forces.
@monty/rowka that's a great post, except for one small detail.
It never actually happened like that, you didn't sell out at 28p, your stop loss got hit and your stock was sold, it then went back up quicker than you had time to rebuy hence the change in attitude from you.
Usually very little volume in Germany so a couple of sells could easily push the SP down. As gecko says won't gave any bearing on us tomorrow.
Although, nice try rowka!
@denby, I recommended your post for at least trying to cover up your bull$hit lies about making thousands £££ by shorting EUA, you know its lies, we all know its lies.
But it's only going to be there for 10 mins then I'm taking it back.
@drMicho, nope no bitterness from me, merely pointing out the incompetence is still flourishing. Buy a machine, it doesn't work, f@ck around with it for months, still dosent work, employ someone on a contract to fix it, still dosent work, finally see sense and return it with conditions attached, and give the same person who was supposed to fix it a commission for helping to sell it.
FOR SALE- one broken mask machine, £246k ONO, buyer collects.
So egremont capital gets paid to fix machine, dosent fix machine and gets paid as well to sell the machine. Hmm, any jobs going there for me? Seems to me you get paid to be $hite at what your paid to do.
@lovelyboy, interesting to note the cost to borrow has increased also. It was 1.2 its now 1.6 (I assume that's % of borrowed assets)
@dealer, shorts are currently sitting at 13.93 million from Friday. Hasn't updated yet this morning.
There was a bit about providing affordable masks for India, given that the average wage in India is about $3 per month, how much are they expecting to make? Or are they only targeting the rich Indian community?
Anyone living in the slums can stay there and die, hmm, nice message to portray.
I didn't think it could get any worse, now I know it clearly can.
