I suppose it's easy to sound "brilliant" when just spouting a load of emotive, idealistic, dogma... without having any sound propsals or rational plan as to how your ideological and utopian fantasies can be turned into reality.
Once again banging on about the "service" aka the pointless, costly and unnecessary anachronism that is early starts and 6 day deliveries.
All because the CWU wants to keep RM as bloated and inefficient as possible in order to maintain its income from membership subs, a disgusting parasite of an organisation which is no way acting in the best interests of its members.
The union is just an entirely self serving entity, all Ward is interested in is keeping RM as bloated, outdated and inefficient as possible to ensure his money for nothing from membership subs doesn't get reduced.
Cashola - Any supposed "shortage of workers" is nothing to do with being in or out of the EU, I think you'll find overall immigration numbers haven't altered since we left the EU.
Any shortage of workers in the UK is due to our profligate benefits system which allows people to choose to have kids they can't afford and then choose to work minimal hours in order to receive optimum "in work" benefits.
If does seem a bizarre decision by the government if they have rejected a formal request to reduce the USO.
Any fool can see 6 day deliveries are now completely unnecessary and are a costly and pointless anachronism and ultimately they're going to result in the business failing altogether or in the event of a takeover the new owner will hive off the profitable parts of IDS and leave the letter deliveries to whither on the vine... in either case the government will then have to step in and take on the liability for their precious 6 day delivery service.
I wasn't even aware that yesterday's mention of the USO being reduced to 5 days was a formal request from Royal Mail, but according to the Times it was.. and the government have apparently already rejected it...

Maximas - An absolutely perfect example of the attitude displayed by old timers in RM, an abysmal work ethic and full of self entitlement, resentment, bitterness, intransigence and utter selfishness... Doesn't care about the long term viability of the company or a secure future for it's younger employees, just wants to retain his own cushy little number until his imminent retirement .
I knew plenty of posties who kept a diary of their sickies, so they knew when they were in the clear to take another one without it triggering a stage 1 warning, effectively getting an extra 2 weeks a year paid annual leave.
Also plenty of posties who have decided to leave the business will just go off on long term sick first to milk it for as long as they can, 6 months full pay then 6 months half pay makes for a nice little pay off.
I know this has been touched upon previously but there didn't seem to be any decisive answers...
In the event that DK does make a bid for full control of the company just what are our options as shareholders?
What if I don't want to sell my shares at whatever price he is offering to buy (let's say 400p for example) because I've got faith that under his ownership there's potential for much more value to be realised in the share price in the future?
With talk of him hiving off the most profitable aspects of the business,( GLS and parcels) and leaving the letters to whither and die or possibly fall back under national ownership, if I was to hold onto my current shares how do I ensure they remain as part of the profitable bit that has the potential to flourish and I'm not left with worthless shares in the RMG letters division of the business?
(Hope this makes sense and I'm not talking nonsense!)
Great news that the CWU have once again been shown up for the incompetent, self serving troughers that they are.
Let's hope posties are finally starting to realise that all the union is interested in is troughihg on their unearned income from membership subs and they aren't capable of competently representing their members or acting in their best interests in any way what so ever.
Dowsie - I've never had a penny in inheritance or bomad, and I'd say my investments haven't done any better than average, I have spent a total of 30 years working full time in RM and elsewhere whilst living a relatively frugal life which has now allowed me the luxury of an early but admittedly frugal retirement.
As I've said numerous times previously... there will be NO large scale redundancies, the figures quoted in this latest statement can easily be achieved within the timescale through natural attrition and a recruitment freeze.
Even the workshy, **** taking, deadwood old timers like Wolvesposty stand no chance of getting a payoff
It's not even a debatable issue, the fact is the large majority of Universal Credit claimants deliberately limit the number of hours they work in order to claim optimum UC, even when permanent full time hours are available and when their wage is considerably over the National Minimum Wage.
