Travel companies aren’t having it all their own way at the moment, with value customers squeezed by cost of living pressures and a perpetual risk of oversupply. This is reflected in OTB’s weak profit numbers posted today and in the EBITDA downgrade.
But OTB is well-positioned as a middleman (though technically it does provide many holidays as “principal”, rather than as an “agent”). And it’s priced keenly to my eyes:
With underlying momentum in the business, and with the overall economic outlook being OK, I’m happy to stay positive on this, looking forward to continued growth and expansion across a range of holiday segments.

IQGeo (LON:IQG) - up 16% to 470p (£290m) - Recommended Cash Acquisition
OK, this is getting ridiculous now. Another takeover bid from America.
Buyer: KKR (according to Wikipedia, it has a total of c.$1 trillion in assets under mgt)
Price: 480p/share in cash.
Premium: only 19% to last night’s close (albeit after a strong run in share price, doubling since autumn 2023)
Recommended by IQG’s board.
Shareholder support: it looks in the bag, with 58% support already. Kestrel is the biggest shareholder. This looks like another situation where institutions want out, with a liquidity event.

The Bank of England has kept interest rates on hold at 5.35%.
Two committee members preferred to reduce the rate by 25 basis points, compared to only one member in the previous meeting. According to BoE projections, a decline in the interest rate is expected from 5.25% to 3.75% by the end of Q2 2027.
Sweden's Riksbank became the first major central bank to cut rates when it lowered rates from 4% to 3.75%. The ECB is expected to follow soon. Central bankers will be watching to see how this affects prices in Sweden, although the country’s inflation rate is already holding at 2%, so the cut is probably justified.
The first F-16s from Denmark will be in Ukraine within a month, the country's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (pictured) stated on Monday during a joint news conference with the other Nordic prime ministers and Germany's Chancellor Olaf Scholz at Stockholm. In total, 19 Danish F-16s will be handed over to Ukraine.
The nation recently unveiled a military assistance package worth €1 billion for Ukraine, which encompasses tanks, drones, ammunition and F-16 fighter jets to fulfill Kiev's urgent military needs.

Should 4 Tories be reported to police?
Four Tory MPs made £5 MILLION selling taxpayer-funded homes but won't say if they paid capital gains tax.
🔹One Tory MP sold his property in London making an estimated profit of £2m.
🔹 BUT from 2004 to 2009 he claimed £106,745 in mortgage payments from Parliament as a second home
🔹When he sold it, he was on the electoral register at that house AS WELL AS a second one in Billingshurst
🔹second homes need capital gains tax accounted for, for that period
🔹did he pay tax?
Tories have reported Angela Rayner to the police and demanded her tax affairs be made public
Is it time for Labour to report these Tories to police for the same reasons?
