was always going to be difficult to cut from Europe and the U.S and paste into Africa. They are just not the same markets. IThey started with big planes, then smaller planes and matbe will go to Hovercrafts and flying boats. This was mentioned a few years ago.
Sometimes I reflect on in the companies Ive invested in. Ive put money into African miners, Korean zinc producers and once toyed with the idea of a Chinese orange grower. Then, I woke up one day. As I was putting on my shoes, I realised I had no idea about minerals or oranges.
Everyone must understand that Mr MissTheMarkman by a Mile is captain of the netball team and has been for quite a while. Any subordination will not be tolerated. Woe bitied anyone who challenges the high priest.
Maybe it's time to get a foot in the door with this share?
Aaron Neville. Great song.
I remember suggesting FastHovercraft and FastSeaplane years ago. Noone took the idea seriously, but then again, that was in the days of large aircraft, the days when quite a lot of people piled into this company.
Does anyone know of of a platform where the ordinary punter can buy or sell options? I was banging on about this a few years ago. The option market has been closed to the public. They are of course risky, what isn't to varying degres in this world, but they come with two positives, 1) you can't lose more than you put up and 2)they have a time element written into them of up to nine months and you can't be closed out or receive a margin call. Much better tan Cfd's or spread betting. Also, they are very useful to use on stocks you own physically.
Looks like they have tweaked their website
Simigon has often been criticised for lack of investor relations. They hardly say anything , they don’t get themselves into the share tips mags, they don’t hold presentations selling the idea they are a good bet. Quite a few companies that I am familiar with have done all that and they are no longer quoted. These companies do this before they issue reams and reams of confetti shares just before they go bust. Simigon is not going to go bust.
Hello oldbutnotwisa. I don't know if i'm olderbutnotwisa than you but here are some thoughts. I too hold a lot of these shares and have done for a few years. Some people say that you should never consider selling a share that gives you a safe income. It's just a question of when you buy more.. Look at the yeild. If you are happy with 4.5 , buy at 4.5. If the yeild creeps up because the Price has gone down, don't do anything. I f the yeild goes down , likewise, don't do anything. Buy when the yeild is what you think is the mid Price.
It looks like the job went well. I was worried there might be some probs with it. The buying could be part of Simigons buyback or it might not. Anyway, when there is hardly any news , this is good news.
Is this share flatlining? I hold one that is doing the same and in the past had a couple that did likewise. Any comments on why that happens? I know lack of interest is one reason, and that it can last for months or years. Then suddenly someting happens, it spikes or disappears from view.
The situation is indeed sad. I hope Fastjet don’t go to the wall. The market would miss them. The exercise has been example of ‘how dry can you squeeze an orange?’ Well, almost to the pips in this case. Big juicy thing reduced to a husk. Look back to those glorious days, the Captain, silk scarf fluttering in the wind, flying goggles on, hand on the joystick. Cleared for take off on runway 9. Bandits at 12 o’clock high. The plane lurched into the air, lost altitude, the Captain bailed out just in time to parachute back into Surrey. He is now sitting in a restaurant saying ‘ You do realise how difficult it is to start an airline in Africa . I have experience. Let’s order some more wine and I’ll tell you all about my new African idea. It’s called FastHovercraft. I got the idea from some poster on a web site and ……………….
Gloat verb (used without object) 1. to look at or think about with great or excessive, often smug or malicious, satisfaction: The winning team gloated over our bad luck. No one is gloating here because there are no winners. Also, sarcasm isn’t the lowest form of wit or humour. Slapstick is. Like a Punch and Judy show when Judy pops up and says ‘Don’t buy that!’ And gets whacked over the head by Punch.
The silent movie of the minnow caps has come to life over the last few days. Maybe, Simigon ‘The Mummy’, has started to talk and has awakened the slumbering audience from its deep sleep? I was quite jolted out of my comfortable snooze, I must admit.
Merry Christmas to you LordAdam. Hope it went well. Mine was great, I spent it with friends. Avoided the family. It was mutual. I'm not in Ashmore at the momment but will be soon. Happy hunting
Hello LordAdam. Ashmore are not discussed very much on boards like this but they are in the City and other cities. They are one of my favourites. They are a brokers favourite too. Extremely volatile, just look at their chart. They pay a good dividend. Emmerging markets are taking a battering at the momment. When do you buy? When it's frothy or when all the gas has gone out of it?
HelloBlue2 I'm not weary and I haven't been ground down by Fastjet. Far from it, it's hilarious what people say there. Regarding MCS, I thought a while back when the Price was nearing 3 quid it was unlikely they would be announcing any dividend at that price. The yield would have been tiny. OK, it's not that great now but it's doublé what it would have been then. I once thought about buying into a funeral service. I suppose buying MCS is buying the waiting room.
I don't know if they sell overpriced homes to the elderly or not. As you get older and older, overpriced becomes less and less important. I think their houses are well built
Hi tarquinpike Hope you are well. I think what we’ve got here is a paradox .It’s not that we’ve bought a bad company, we’ve bought a company that’s too good. How good I don’t know.
