The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
@christianmideast yup - it is a breath of fresh air to see how organized, clear, and consistent this company/people behind it have been so far.
I was rewatching Davids's interview from November last year where he goes over the plans for the company and even then he mentions the fundraising for appraisal stages etc. it's a great watch as you can see where they have come from and the vision has been very sharp and consistent throughout.
Here is the video if anyone is interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMNTd0HJ3vM
@aimofthegame6
Were you invited to the placement scheme from HE1? (if so that's, fantastic)
I was under the impression after reading the links, posts earlier that any shares purchased from placing (not at placing price but from the actual invitational placing by HE1) would count as being forward sold if sold prior to today (the 22nd of April).
Not disputing anything you are saying and appreciate your view, just looking to further educate in this (what seems to be taboo) area.
This is the interview I mentioned, worth watching if you have not seen it. It explains the recent placing and the impact on the project: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLsBm1TnM54
Correct, David said in a recent interview that due to getting the appraisal stage funded he is letting the teams know that the first batch of work is running till October rather than August.
If all goes well we should be ready for the development and engineering stages next year. It also should mean that any future fundraising situations will be at a much higher price (in theory) than now so all of that are invested right now are re-risked regardless.
How would placings be forward sold?
These are questions I have wondered, not that it changes my stance on the company but its always good to know when we hit another round of potential funding further down the road for the development stage seeing as we are financially covered for both exploration and 3D seismic + appraisal stages.
Thank you, Deep
That article was indeed what I was thinking of originally, there is also a video interview as Persian mentioned with Anish.
I have resisted the urge to buy more today as I will be sticking to my plan of waiting to see what happens tomorrow. I have a decent size investment within my means and still have full faith in the project regardless of the SP drops (which were to be expected).
In the meantime, this interview with Crux has fantastic information from DM on what to expect and when. Sounds like they are very much on the ball with how to tackle this.

@TSRA
I believe it will be 1 of 3 exploration drills from the first project location (Rukwa) - the second and third drills might come in the months following (June - July). If I find where I heard/read this ill post it as it's not coming to mind right away.
Thank you for your input Deep, I guess we will see what the situation is tomorrow.
I am still firm on not wanting to sell anything but in fact try and increase my initial position more.
Thanks, deep - I hope the theory of placements selling forward is correct as it would explain alot of what's going on right now.
I wouldn't be surprised for some RNS to hit soon after tomorrow (maybe even tomorrow) from our main man DM telling us how things are going - it would be the perfect counter punch if contains favourable news (which it should).
How can we be sure that these are forward sales?
Regardless, I have created some more ammunition to use this Thursday by selling some other investments within the portfolio to be ready for any (if at all) drops to buy in some more.
Personally, the tree shake and profit-taking sales were to be expected. Just like profit is only realised when you sell, the same rule applies to any losses!
HE1 have 3 projects in Tanzania with Rukwa being the most advanced. Rukwa is going to have 3 exploration holes with the first just around the corner. DM has set them up to be able to move onto appriasal and 3D seismic stages swiftly following exploration stages. Keep that in mind for anyone impacted by the SP drop today.
I agree - not just on my own personal gut feeling but also the fundamentals of the company, people involved, and of course what they are trying to do and the impact it will have in the event of even one of the 3 well spots being a success.
If you look at the big picture (I obviously am) - if this thing hits £1 like a few of us expect it to - then £5 - £10 is not out of the question at all from there on out. DME went from around 0.38 cent to $3 - $4 and they still have no started operations, nor do they have the sheer magnitude of the resource HE1 have.
Obviously, everyone should do their own research as no one wants to put hard-earned capital into something they are unsure of but I personally am not selling any positions or trading this.
Good luck on all waiting on the Thursday drop - nothing wrong with trying to maximise your gains as long as you are sure of what you are doing.
In terms of dips - Thursday will be the day to watch. I would naturally assume with this much potential that any substantial dips would get eaten up very quickly.
In terms of the drill location, they will be using all the data they have gathered to select a sensible location - the "goldilocks spot" as DM referred to it.
I am obviously wishing them all the best to bring us cracking news soon.
@Noob
Yup, totally agree and it speaks volumes about David Minchin and his mindset of staying on time, budget and resource to bring value to the table for the company and the shareholders (us) .
The confidence to pull the trigger on funding for the appraisal and 3D seismic is a massive sign for me that they are not even entertaining the notion of finding nothing but actually planning the next move after discovery is broadcast with us.
As always though, nothing is ever a dead cert and things could certainly not go according to plan - the difference with this investment for me personally is that as the project continues I gain more and more faith with the people involved to steer the ship properly even we hit some hurdles. You can go back in time and watch all the communications/interviews with DM and he has stuck to his plan and vision from the start .
@WeirdPal
There is absolutely nothing wrong with your logic and I commend you for doing your own DD before investing. The risk will differ for us all depending on our circumstances and what we feel is worth risking.
Personally, based on my own research and looking into the project and people involved I probably have more confidence than most might (hence why I am invested). Desest Mountain Energy is a great case study to draw comparisons from in terms of potential if things go well - and to think that the potential here could be substantially more is too good for me to simply ignore - even if it does backfire, its a risk I have peace with.
Prae,
Hopefully, a lot of us here will hit millionaire status (if not already) by those estimated potential projections if all goes according to plan.
Sometimes, you have to be in a company at the right time for the right reason to make life-changing gains and this company certainly gives me that feeling for numerous reasons. Obviously, there are risks involved and it will come down to each person to weigh them all out but the potential seems very strong in my opinion.
In my opinion, if you look at the bigger picture and all 3 locations prove successful then £1 would simply be the tip of the iceberg. Nothing against you planning to de-risk any initial investment either when it hits that £1 milestone (I obviously believe it will). After Rukwa there are also two other project locations lined up but they are at earlier stages.
Besides the interviews with David Minchin, there is an interview with Lorna Blaisse (Principle Geologist for Helium One) where she clearly echos the sentiment of "we know the heliums there, we now just have to prove it with a well". The whole interview comes across as a team and company that clearly knows what they are doing and looking for.
