Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
Had a look at Paypoint website, little information about the locations for parcel drop off/pick up. The Q and As on the subject are not very customer focused imo, will be interesting to see the full detail, however 7k locations doesn't seem to be enough?
There cannot be any dispute that the USO needs to change. The ability for the likes of Whistle, Evri etc to cherry pick what they deliver then dump the expensive rural elements into the Royal mail network and this was caused by the deregulation of postal services. Even if the USO is reduced to 5 days then other operators would still be able to take advantage and this is not ideal with the one price for all rule!
This is not a strike ballot this is a ballot on the pay/terms deal/agreement
Sunday deliveries are unlikely to be made from all c1 2k DOs, these will be concentrated into Area DOs that will cover multiple offices and therefore won't have access to that letter in the frame at another unit.
This really stinks! If the surplus cash was paid to RMPP in 2017 then if being redistributed this should only be to yhose who were in the scheme at this time, current and those now retired and not to anyone who joined post 2017.
Having taken VR in 2021 my RMPP element is deffered pending me reaching 65. My last day of service was 26th March and RMPP deemed that this meant that the 2020/2021 RMPP contributions did not make a full year and therefore the April 2021 payment was not applied!
If RM was to cypher off cash from the pension fund then this would in my opinion be bang out of order. The pension fund is for current members, deffered members and retirees of whom all contributed the the fund and if cash is being handed out then this should be shared equally amount all members of the scheme. To even be considering this as an option is absurd and the CWU should take the lead in quashing such a move. Angry Ex employee, share holder and RM pensioner.
@Dowsie, if RM went down the pan as a result of a no vote then sorry to say that your view that this would not effect you is a bit naive. You pension would potentially be impacted should the number of contributions being significantly reduced should the number of employees leaving RM and the scheme be of a significant number then the coffers that fund both in payment, deffeted and future pensions would quickly deminish
Today is the pivotal day in negotiations with Royal Mail Group.
A number of issues remain outstanding and we are seeking to resolve them.
It is important that CWU members do exactly what you have done for the last year - ignore the noise and positioning from management and continue to stand ready to back your union.
If we can reach an agreement, it will then be considered by our Postal Executive and ultimately be subject to a full membership ballot. We don’t need lessons on democracy from an employer that has relentlessly and deliberately chosen imposition over agreement.
We will update you fully within the next 24 hours. We came into this dispute together. We will come out of it together.
Real change in tone from DW in latest post on Facebook. Hopefully sense on both sides will prevail.

If only RM hadn't shreaded 200m in the sharebuy back this could have been much better used to address the original demand for a pay increase and the basis for the dispute would have been avoided. Talks on restructuring could have followed on without the animosity and hatred that has consumed the dispute.
The pension built-up before 2012 (that managed by Capita RMSPS) are underwritten by the UK government and should be safe! This would be the Final Salary up to 2008 and any CDSB from 2008 to 2012, the rest are with RMPP into which current employees are paying into.
All, As a shareholder and former RM employee it hurts to see how this situation has evolved in the last 2 years. During the pandemic the finances were massively boosted by Test Kits and returns and Covid passports so when these disappeared there was a big drop in cash and hence where we are now, glad I got out when I did.
Should the worst case scenario occur what would be the position of the Royal mail pension plan ? Know that the pre 2012 are looked after by the government and safe.
Worrying times.
The worrying part for me was the admission the NHS letters are being prioritised against other mails, whilst it has always been the case that business mail took preference the fact remains that the USO decrees that mail should be treated equally. Irrespective of the current legislation the fact remains that certain mail type and class have always been prioritised (for example special delivery/priority services). Also currently as Sundays are outside the remit of the USO RM do not have any obligation to deliver but choose to do so at considerable cost! Only this week my non urgent repeat prescription was delivered on Sunday afternoon which I would have been happy to receive weekday.
Could have done better, the outdoor actuals that was referred in reply to the PDA and tracking issue could have been answered better and in such a way to close off the issue.
On the prioritisation of Parcels over letters and the USO, fairly clear that Mr Thompson and Mcauley the more they said the deeper the hole they were digging for themselves was getting.
Worrying times ahead for the board me thinks.
Very petty to make such a personal remark, this IMO is one of the issues within the workforce which has been drive by the CWU and personal attacks against Mr Thompson and others.
THE CEO, Chairman and Ops director are in front of the select Committee tomorrow 22nd Feb at 14:15, link for live coverage below.

The agreement document was a proposed agreement that the CWU sent earlier today, this has been rejected by Royal Mail and therefore no progress and the strikes planned for Friday and Saturday are still planned.
Interesting read, quite a few references to agreement which tends to suggest that RMs understanding from talks that some of the points had a form of agreement with the CWU, could be that one or either parties are saying one thing in the talks and something different outside the room.
From a share holder perspective the paragraph that refers to Rm employees getting priority on any future profit.
RM trading update says that the legacy redundancy terms (2 years pay) is no longer feasible as too expensive. So these will need to be renegotiated.
