RE: When will the first RNS of the year come ?????28 Jan 2026 16:41
I have bought into mothercare this month. Very much going under the radar in my opinion. And a gap in the market for them to fill in the UK. I would rather them seek the right uk partner moving forward than rush into a subpar choice. Obviously a supermarket would be a preferable business move but we have to be realistic also, morrisons have been mentioned but they have their own brand nutmeg, as do asda tesco etc.
However, I think a mothercare section in a supermarket is a definite tick for client base choosing a certain supermarket over another providing the pricing is correct and variety and quality of goods is good enough. Boots where I live are in dated shopping centres which have already declined due to the online ease of shopping. So they were never going to go anywhere sticking with them exclusively.
They could really do with promoting the online side of things going forward which maybe a morrisons/ocado link might improve. Good signs are whiley & cook own a fair chunk of shares and have recently topped up, along with a 25% stake owned by lombard odier. Good revenue growth overall and debt reduction in the right direction.
I dont think they have to produce sparkling trading updates for the share price to increase. Also good scope to grow revenue overseas in untapped countries.
