But of course! Isn't it obvious that the market makers know that many dividend re-investment programs will be buying shares today. It's a no brainer that they fill their books in the days leading up to the dividend being paid and then sell into the inevitable rise! Mike

Instead of distributing the proceeds of the divestment as a special dividend (23p) yet another set of management has chosen the dubious route of artificially increasing the EPS via a buy back programme ... I wonder if it's got something to do with bonuses based on EPS or artificially stimulated (short-term) share prices? Mike

Sounds bogus to be honest ... anyone with access to the share holders register (and it is public) has access to all the information that you have quoted so far ... and a letter from Equiniti is easily faked, signature or not. Plus ... why sell B shares at less than market price? when you can easily sell them with high liquidity in the market place? and why sell to a random person who you're hoping is going to respond to your cold call, and finally Equininity are the company registrar not a broker! Nope ... its bogus and probably some kind of money up front scam ... if you need further proof get the number for Equinity off their web site, phone them direct yourself ... and talk to them to see what they know about it. I'll 99.9999% guarantee they don't know anything about it (unless someone else has already checked with them). And please post an update here for other folk so they know what has happened subsequently. Mike

Well the market is a very emotion driven thing ... and a 'leave' result is likely to be both unexpected and unpredicted ... I would expect a distinct over-reaction in the short term. On the basis that things go down a lot faster than they go up a fall of 30-50% in the first few days would not be out of this world. In the longer term I think a fall of about 25% is to be expected until it becomes clear what London's long term future is as a financial center etc. In reality remain or leave it shouldn't make a great deal of difference ... but then, when was the market ever part of the 'real' world. As for my opinion, there's not much chance of a 'leave' result but then that's how my vote is going to fall. Mike

As you say ... yields on all boards/sites are 'historical' yields unless clearly marked other wise. This will lead to anomalies whenever the dividend is either increased or decreased from its previous historical figure. As always it is a case of do your own research and being very, very aware of what the figures mean. Interestingly we will have the opposite problem when the dividend is increased again towards its historically high levels! Mike

A good solid set of results ... strong growth, both organic (like for like) and acquistional ... increased dividend and strong net cash puts the company in an excellent position for the coming year. I'm expecting great things here. Mike

On a very simple pro-rata basis the new Scottish Power would seem to equate to an increase of about 1.1% in recurrent revenue. There's also likely to be either a reasonable up front capital payment or alternatively a reasonably long 'lock-in' period with a possible exit fee for early termination. However, as the development and infrastructure costs have largely already been covered the contribution that the contract will make to the bottom line is likely to be significantly larger than 1.1%. So in one contract I think we are looking at about 1-1.5% growth in recurrent revenue and about 2-2.5% increase in bottom line profits. And this is one of many such contracts that Trakm8 wins as time goes by -- oh do I wish I had spare cash available! Mike

... yes, an exceptional set of results ... extremely strong recurrent revenue growth, which is what sets this company apart from other, device orientated sales/manufacturer companies. Folks earlier speculation on BT Fleet as a reseller proved to be spot on. Overall a very confident and positive statement showing solid and planned growth with the board expressing their confidence in the business' cash flow generation by declaring their first dividend! As my Physics master used to say on almost every report he wrote "Augurs well for the future". Mike

Interesting ... in the spirit of comparing brokers, their methods and charges, can I ask for the details of that transaction? If you could tell us what the amount of the dividend was that you originally received, how many shares they bought (1?) and at what price, and finally how much the costs were for the transaction we can form an idea of whether Barclay's reinvestment programme is a good choice or not. Pretty sure that the person who contacted the company did so by telephone ... and the date that he mentioned was "about the 26th". In the past the company has favoured the Thursday of the week for results announcements, the 26th is a Tuesday ... last year it was the equivalent of the week we are in now ... but it's not today ... ergo it's probably next week, on a day that starts with 'T'!
