I am much happier with the large investment into Lloyds shares, than a little bit more on the dividend. Good all round for the long term - share buybacks plus increasing dividends

I have said before that they could afford to pay a lot more than the expected 2 times interim, but thy have kept the progressive dividend policy starting at a low level to enable a greater investment into Lloyds shares.

What did you not understand. This years total dividend set the base from which the dividend progresses. There is a change in emphasis on how returns are made with the arrival of the new CEO.
