Just got letter from HSBC - it looks like they will be crediting my account with cash to account for assets merged with Woodside . They state the fact that Woodside are on the ASX.
They appear to ignore the fact or not know that Woodside will be quoted on the London exchange next week.

Precisely - with current profitability Lloyds can easily return 10% each year to shareholders based on the current price if they wish to do so- hopefully profits can average a level in the coming years for that to happen.

that means i will as well. I have had shares in BT since privitisation on 6th August 1984 in my earlier days of investing when a £1,000 investment was a big investment for me.

I forgot to say that the 140p purchase was buying back a sale I made on 26th June last year at a little over £2.
I have a low average. I may consider to sell a small amount again at over £2, not because of thinking it overpriced but simply to reduce the number of shares that i have a little bit and of course reducing my average price a bit more.
It is BT so the market may just as easily drop the price 15p from here as raise it 15p.

similar to some who thought recently that BP at about 350p was defying gravity - I didn't, I thought it was way undervalued.

The longer the period of undervaluation, the more opportunities for longer term investments for new potential investors.
I have bought for well under £1 in the past and also sold at £5.
In more recent times I have bought at about £1, and my last purchase was at about 140p. I make sure that I make the most of what I consider to be mis placed pricing levels.

Buybacks have nothing to do with day to day, week to week price movements.
Buybacks are a return to shareholders via the purchase and cancellation of shares.
Supply/demand will determine a share price.
Lloyds have dropped about 20% from YTD high to current price
Barclays have dropped about 20% from YTD high to current price

the solid ground is 2p per share - hopefully the 2022 interim will be increased to 0.71p

It appears that many investors feel they are entitled that others should purchase Lloyds shares at a much higher price level .

Based on 2021 profitability and the current valuation, Lloyds could easily afford a total return to shareholders to continue at 10% per year if they chose to do so.

The shares in issue currently stands at about 69.7 Billion.
The market cap currently stands at about £31.2 Billion.
Ignoring the benefit of write backs, Lloyds is currently valued at about 4.6 times 2021 underlying earnings.
Current or potential new investors need to decide for themselves whether at this valuation Lloyds represents a good buying opportunity or not for the longer term.
