We need a dampening on demand, hence the balancing act by the MPC to get inflation under control.
A recession would be the quickest way to do this, so rates need to continue to rise.

FX rates go up and down. Cable was at about 1.42 last year.
Rate against the EURO currently about 1.165 was about 1.06 a few years ago.
