He seems to be indicating that along with some others on here, that he uses dividend payments to set against purchase costs and thus reducing the cost per share.

I personally only work out an average cost on remaining shares using purchasing costs minus sale amounts.

Yes ,in fact they could afford 6p per share now, but sensibly some returns are being directed towards buybacks for cancellation. So future dividends in 5+ years time if buybacks were stopped then could be a lot higher than 6p per share assuming that profitability is maintained

so you think that if Lloyds can afford £2 Billion + buybacks for each of the next 10 years because of sustained/increased profitability that the market cap in 10 years will be less than £10 Billion.

Without the buybacks that LBG have made there would now be about 20% more shares in issue, which would make my percentage shareholding that much less and subsequently the value as well.

Buybacks for cancellation will always increase the RELATIVE price per share over what it would have been be without such buybacks.

Yes, if Lloyds purchase and cancel 40 Billion shares over the next 10 years ,the value of my shareholding will be worth considerably more, even without adding further shares.

you seem to ignore the fact that since I bought a very large amount of shares at under 24p, the current share price stands at over 70% higher, and in between of course I made a last sale at 53p followed by a purchase at 38p.

With less than 5 weeks until full year results, the Lloyds valuation currently is looking extremely good for the 2024 repurchase programme, which hopefully will have a budget uplift .

A 50p buyback average for 2024, would be great, but if lower, all the better.

I am not aware of the government is threatening a 'windfall' tax on top of an already higher tax burden . Also i am not aware that underlying profitability has significantly increased and if it had that means extra taxation.

I think serious investors are aware that Lloyds already pays dividends, with a projected 2024 yield of 7% +

I think a serious investor would know that money that Lloyds is able to lend out does not come from shareholders but from profits and money deposited by customers of the bank.

based on the current price the 2023 Lloyds yield equates to about 6.5%, with the 2024 yield expected to be 7% + and the 2025 greater still.

In addition about a further 7% would be returned by way of share buybacks for cancellation.

here we go yet again. Lloyds were advised not to proceed with a dividend payment, which would have turned into enforcement had they ignored it.

Also yet again - money has been returned to shareholders on a FIFO basis by way of buybacks and dividends.
