More than half of house sharers (58%) have found themselves out of pocket as a result of their housemates’ habits, according to new research from Halifax.

From everyday slip-ups like staining the carpet, to potentially more hazardous situations like leaving a candle unattended, horror housemates can set Brits back as much as £4,600.

(Reuters) - Standard Life Aberdeen (SLA.L) reported estimated total assets of 490 billion pounds at end-April, after outflows of 24 billion pounds linked to the withdrawal of a large mandate by Lloyds Banking Group (LLOY.L).

Stripping the Lloyds assets out, the British asset manager said it had seen estimated net inflows of 1 billion pounds over the first four months of 2020.

Lloyds Chief Executive Antonio Horta-Osorio said last week that while his bank’s 2020 forecast was comparatively less pessimistic, his prediction of 3% growth in 2021 was more realistic.

“We assume a prudent recovery in the second year of only 3%, so our combined impact in the two years is a negative GDP of 2%,” said Horta-Osorio.

pointed to a sharp deterioration in conditions across the UK jobs market as businesses put their recruitmentplans on ice amid the ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

“The COVID-19 pandemic continues to wreak havoc on the UK jobs market with a record drop in vacancies and recruitment plans frozen.
“The uncertainty over the outlook is weighing heavily on the nation – we estimate that as many as 13 million jobs are highly affected by the lockdown, representing just over a third of all jobs in the UK.
“It’s an unprecedented situation for UK business and resilience, then recovery, is key to navigating through the crisis. All eyes will also be on the Government’s forthcoming announcement on easing current restrictions so confidence in the jobs market can start to rebuild.”
