The UK economic recovery is picking up some pace as Investors have fallen out of love with the Dollar as economic prospects have improved outside of the U.S. while another surge of new coronavirus infections has stoked concerns about the American recovery.
The ongoing rally in GBP/USD might be supported on the domestic side by last Friday's IHS Markit PMI surveys that pulled ahead of their European counterparts and retail sales which recovered much of their 2020 falls by June.

The U.K.'s largest retail bank posted a pretax loss of 602 million pounds ($782.4 million) compared with a profit of GBP2.90 billion for the same period a year earlier. The lender was expected to report a pretax profit of GBP42 million for the first six months of the year, according to its own compilation of consensus.

The FTSE-100 lender's net income decreased 38% to GBP5.48 billion. The bank was expected to post a net income of GBP7.4 billion for the period, according to its own compilation of forecasts.

The bank took impairments of GBP2.39 billion in the second quarter after booking a GBP1.43 billion charge in the first quarter of the year due to the coronavirus pandemic, a total of 3.82 billion, up from the expected GBP2.9 billion impairments for the first-half based on Lloyds' compilation of estimates.

The latest Lloyds Bank Business Barometer shows:

Overall business confidence rose eight percentage points to -22% in July, the highest levels since March.
Economic optimism increased 11 points to -22%, while business prospects increased four points from June’s all-time low.
Responding to the impact of the coronavirus, 66% of businesses stated a negative impact, a two point decrease from June.
Over half of businesses state they can now operate fully, with the additional easing of social distancing in place.
Among firms with furloughed staff, 16% of businesses are planning to retain all of their furloughed employees.
