The closed period won't start in January. The year end is 31st January, and we will get an update perhaps then but results will be months later.
My expectation is that the share price is constantly reacting to the latest Covid developments. Right now four European countries are suffering peak infection rates, including at least one with a higher vaccination rate than the UK. At the same time, the percentage of hospitalised patients who have been vaccinated is increasing considerably in some places - perhaps because the percentage of populations which have been done has increased - perhaps not. Germany, for example has more than 30% in-patients who have been vaccinated. So until things improve it must put cruising's future bookings at risk.
A couple of points countering your post Silentalker: The UK’s coal mining industry has just about completely dissapeared and our coal fired power stations have gone the same way, which makes the “100% additional CO2 emmission” point about the benefit of not using coal a bit irrelevant in the UK at least. The basis upon which burning wood products which came from trees after they had taken in CO2 for a 100 year or whatever timeline, is considered carbon neutral, cannot be sustained imo. Waste stream reclamation, although it has a long way to go, has come a long way in recent years, and I believe the incremental improvements are happening more quickly as the world finally faces up to global warming. In such circumstances it doesn’t seem realistic to expect to get a long term (perhaps 25years?) permit to replace coal fired power stations with an alternative but still just as “dirty” fuel.
The “Carbon Capture” RNS seemed, to me to be a completely unrealistic sign of desperation.
Two points I would think relevant: First the proposed pellets do not halve CO2 emissions, the emissions are about the same as coal, but because some of the material burned is of plant origin it is discounted - but its still giving off CO2, which is at last becoming increasingly unpopular.
Second, "mining" tips for plastic is unlikely to be allowed in the foreseeable future. The tips rich in plastic are relatively recent, and tips give off methane for decades, which is normally caught by a gathering system and used. Opening up a "young" tip would release lots of methane which is something like 25 times as potent a global warming gas.
I wonder why they had a vote to authorise the board to issue 100 million shares as that seems a bit excessive, any ideas?
Yes, decent results I thought. Quite pleased with them, and also with the quietness on this and other forums.
The biggest of the three companies that I hold which reported today, and steadier then the other two, but this looks a decent result, Anyone not pleased with these results?
I'm pleased with them anyway, anyone troubled by them?
Quite pleased with todays results, anyone not like them?
Quite a pleasing set of results this morning, anyone not like them?
This share has now doubled for me in not much more than a year, and although I'm tempted to believe it still has a lot of upside, I'm also tempted to sell half and hold the remainder as free shares. Is there anyone out there who has serious doubts about the company's future?
Thank you for your response HH100. I notice that Lion Natural Resources have since published the absolute minimum of information, abbreviated accounts, to prevent the striking off. I had sold out anyway, and I'm glad I did, as a resource company run by a Mexican banker whose registered address is in Switzerland sounds a bit iffy to me. The accounts, such as they are, show net assets of £400,000, including £260,000 cash, which would appear to put a total value on the actual assets which MMO invested in at approximately £140,000. That makes their £400,000 initial investment for a 30% stake look a very poor one to me. This sort of wildly speculative junk is not for me I'm afraid, and this was my first, and last, investment of this type, but thanks again for the reply.
Sorry HH100, not done any posting on forums before. The missing bit was the page for Lion Natural Resources Ltd on the Companies House website.
Bought into MMO after reading your posts HH100, but found this today and wonder what it means. Could you help? https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/08295640 then under filing history, there is a letter called First Gazette notice for compulsory strike off. Surely this is one of the good holdings you wrote about. Thanks
