I'm just fascinated listening to it all. I think with the old council it would have been passed but since the local elections with the independents now running the council in coalition with the Green Party members it will be a tough deal.
The planning officer certainly knows what he is talking about and has researched everything very well.
I'm also fascinated by UKOG's business strategy and their long term business planning. After looking through their accounts their CEO seems to do very well but it does seem to be on shaky ground unless they can actually start producing significant quantities of oil in the UK. With COP26 happening next week they are in real danger of a fundamental shift in the political landscape. If this does go through today then they still need the EA permit to be agreed and we all know that this is open to real political interference (coal mining is an example of this).
We also need to go through the listening to every councillor that wants to make a name for themselves locally.... The IOW council have several major issues to deal with at the moment, this is certainly one of the most contentious.
It is unfortunate that no-one has been able to say how the £30 million benefit to the IOW will actually happen.
