Ha yep, they're not short of money to invest and it seems they've copied Apple's strategy of waiting for everyone else to rush ahead and fail, before understanding what the market needs and making their play. An acquisition strategy of the established leaders (for L2+) seems a better punt than the others who tried to buy into Level 5.
Surely Qualcomm is leading the pack as our eventual buyer now. They paid $2billlion, just to break the deal to purchase NXP Semiconductors, who they were going to buy for $47billion.
Here's another interesting paragraph from the article...
The bigger downside for the company is that, without NXP, Qualcomm is even more reliant on its existing product portfolio at a time when it’s under a legal assault across the globe for allegedly anti-competitive patent licensing practices. The company maintains a commanding lead in the mobile processor and modem space, but the IoT and automotive markets — both of which Qualcomm competes in, too — are still taking off, and the breakup of this deal means fewer ready-to-go resources for Qualcomm.

It's now clear from the amount of competition entering the space that the future of driving involve DMS. We just need the industry analysts to start writing about the investment opportunity. We've had years of them speculating on the likes of Tesla and Google, Nvidia and Veoneer. The need to dig down a little further and start recommending the highly undervalued Minos of the supply chain. We, of course have speculated on this for years but we can't expect the wider investment community to know or understand the tech. We should invite some tech analysts into the company to spread the word to the world.
I'm surprised there has been nothing from Volvo at CES RE: driving monitoring, considering their big promise to included it across all their range early 2020's. I can only assume(hope) they were aware of Fovio-N development, but it's been a little too soon to showcase it.

2.46 - what looks like our DMS
1.58 - "what's interesting is the infotainment system actually uses eye-tracking"...
Concert car, yes, but a potential indication we are working with Audi.

Is that the DMS on the steering wheel. It looks a familiar shape.
Hasn't this RNS just opened a totally new business line for us? The DMS is the safety aspect but this is now the infotainment sector, a totally new use for our tech. All housed in the DMS but with a wider degree of unlimited function to control the in car entertainment.

The Virtual Visor uses AI to track the position of the driver's eyes, mouth and nose.
Zink says the system even works with polarized sunglasses, albeit potentially with a slight performance degradation. If you can see a normal LCD infotainment system with your sunglasses on, the Virtual Visor will work.

Mr Fraser said the latest monitoring technology to be installed, Seeing Machines, tracks driver alertness and identifies distraction events. An unobtrusive in-car camera continuously monitors the driver's face and eyes, and the system relays real-time data and video back to base, where it can be synchronised with other vehicle or data inputs.

Ha my bad, it was early this morning when I couldn't sleep. I read it as tailgating and figured it was to handsfree drive up someones backend. Still it seems to be being shipped with the DMS on the steering wheel from the pics on their website, as discussed earlier in this article. https://www.slashgear.com/ford-is-building-the-mustang-mach-e-a-hands-free-driving-system-19600211/
Might not be switched on just yet though.
