A good fundie is of course going to hedge the investment by lending out the shares in their control if requested. If a fundie is long term Long on a position, lending shares for shorting can actually improve the yield.

Shorting and market abuse, as pointed out, are two separate issues. The probem is one of education.

A cynical person might take note of all the signatories on that petition, and well, take their trade!

A market abuser might start a petition to get traction, note all the names and the forums they post on, spread shyte and well...take their trade.
