Anyone else look at the website "gridwatch"? it shows where UK electricity is coming from. Wind power does seem to be storming ahead....

I looked at a TRIG investor presentation. Only 18% of electricity produced is sold on the open market. The rest is sold under long term contracts... the Iran war might not mean that TRIG benefits massively from the rising gas price....

though 31% more windpower basically means 31% more electricity sold?

I was a shareholder in DS Smith. I'm obviously now a shareholder in IP.

I received my first dividend from IP... it's a cheque for US dollars...

Nationwide won't accept it. Starling Bank doesn't accept it.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to cash it?

Tbh, I didn't know there was still a 15% withholding tax even after filling in a W8BEN... it feels like I'm getting "forced" to sell these shares.

Tbh, I dont really understand this business. They buy a road or something and get an income stream for twenty or so years. At the end of twenty years they have no asset because they hand it back to the "taxpayer".
It's not like the dividend is awesome. The dividend doesnt really compensate for the fact that the eventual value of the assets is zero.
I can buy shares in PHP and get a 6% dividend. However at the end of the lease PHP still own the asset and can rent it out again.

How does SSE compare with state run organisations like the NHS etc?

Really tanked over the last 6 months. I guess rising interest rates will reduce the value of property. Having said that, with rising inflation property has to be a good long term investment.

I looked at their website and it doesnt actually say what they have invested in... it's hard to get excited about a company that doesnt say what they are up to...

I reckon if the vaccine is successful people are going to go mad spending money on holidays etc. There must be a lot of people that have saved money over the last 12 months. People just want to have a good time and wont worry about the expense.

I reckon this share could soar....
