RE: Hopefully Something To Look Forward To12 Jan 2020 10:27
Similar to me T, not selling some on spikes...that's because it's not easy to do.
If bigger players want to sell with a bit less profit, they are more or less pulling rug from beneath you. So, I suppose you have to take in the whole year on balance and hopefully make more good choices than bad.
I hope this year will be your best ever, but I wouldn't put too much pressure on yourself. I can't see how this year is shaping up. Maybe it will be steady as we get closer to US elections, but not much cheer in UK at the moment. M&S have been making recovery in past few months, but share buyers are not impressed now, I think it will take ages to get them back on track. They keep making promises on changes. Not at all helpful to us here. I would think that the delivery tie-up would be successful, but what is the bottom line on profit from that I don't know.
We could have a small bet, yes, I imagine you think I'm being more negative than you? I just think Ocado had some massive news that drove those big leaps, so we will need that again to get over 14 first, but maybe it will come from something overseas rather than UK? In 2 years things could be different if results start coming in from Australia, USA, Japan, Sweden.
I appreciate all the tips and info, sounds like you've had an interesting career, are you retired now?
Yes, have wondered about "go away in May" does seem to be some truth. Plus, this end of Tax year period.
You can always be open to bargains that come up during year, there is bound to be some shocking falls where FTSE back to high 6000's. I am the same I had bought things where price collapsed thinking that even with a modest recovery they would be a sure thng...and weren't.
Probably what brought me back to Ocado, when you think of the Tech boundaries being pushed, that's got to be valuable.
I agree having a goal (for the year), definitely does spur you on and makes you focus on the job.
Bloody Ryanair though, I only just booked flights for April and he's whacked up baggage/seat charges again...most flights seem full, so yes he should be in profit.
Won't bore you with family problems, (my parents obviously trying to prove something from beyond the grave) but just explaining where I got money to buy shares. I started smalltime in 98, but then stopped when we were buying a house. I had some reasonable success in early days,
You do have to remember that UNFORSEEN events can come out of the blue.
