Let's hope that Peel Hunt manage to get some traction amongst funds/institutions as, like I was writing yesterday, the gap between broker fair values and the actual share price was getting a bit ridiculous.
Coco, the use of "industrial" is intriguing as the recent RNS headers started with "AFC Energy (AIM: AFC), a leading provider of hydrogen power generation technologies" whereas today's says "AFC Energy (AIM:AFC), the industrial fuel cell power company". Presumably, the new broker has some reason for this change in wording.
Let's hope so, Haggis. At least it ended a bit stronger today. Just need a positive ABB update and some news of sales!
I clearly remember pointing out how frustrating it was that the SP actually got above the broker fair value at the time towards the end of last year. That was soon rectified and the SP is now ridiculously short of both apparently conservative fair values. Still waiting for the market (and AFC's potential customers) to wake up!
Meanwhile, the absolutely relentless selling into any attempt at a rise continues even after months of this happening.
It is good to see WH Ireland sounding as bullish as ever this morning. It is a shame that the market does not seem to share this optimism (yet) but, hopefully, more and more funds/investors are looking at AFC as it seemingly gets closer to realising its potential:

WHI View: AFC Energy’s decision to partner with Extreme E represented two critical risks i) the logistical and operational demands on its systems would be punishing by any standard ii) the event, by its nature, is tremendously high profile. The announcements made today by AFC Energy clearly vindicate the confidence it had in its systems. Our conviction in AFC Energy is fundamentally premised on our appreciation of the unique attributes and qualities of AFC Energy’s technology. We have long believed its systems are robust – chemically and otherwise. Nevertheless, we are very impressed with the delivery achieved by AFC Energy’s systems in the most arduous conditions on the planet. To have successfully featured as the primary power source to charge the vehicles in each of the first three races is a very strong statement that unequivocally proves that AFC Energy’s systems have the inherent qualities to replace diesel generators with 100% emissions free hydrogen power. Today’s announcement strengthens our high-conviction confidence in AFC Energy’s technology, which remains the foundation of our high-conviction, long-term growth outlook for the company. We reiterate our fair value estimate of 159p.
It in encouraging to see the Head of Renewable Energies at Altaaqa commenting in the Urban Air post yesterday. It is starting to feel like the dots are joining up and I look forward to more updates about the work with Altaaqa, ABB, Acciona, Mace and others.
"Congrats Adam and team!
Great achievement. The dream is becoming more real with the contribution of visionary companies like yours."
Whilst I note that this nomination has not led to a flurry of buys, I would have thought that S&P would have done their due diligence before nominating AFC as a finalist. Who knows, AFC might actually have a groundbreaking set of products that are going to be instrumental in the transition towards the hydrogen economy...
I note that ITM is now 7% up so let's hope that, having seemingly unfairly dragged AFC down when it fell, it can pull AFC back up with it!
Or the sector could continue to recover as the move towards hydrogen picks up speed and as the fear/deramping are replaced by positivity/FOMO. I note that both CWR and ITM are up 4% today.
It is encouraging to see Fuel Cell Energy is up 12%. Let's hope the sector recovery finally sticks this time and that AFC produce the first really substantial news in months.
Great to see some positivity and, despite what those who want to sow the seeds of doubt want to portray, this change in sentiment can affect trading patterns and the SP of a company like AFC. Still waiting for better newsflow but there is no reason to buy the panic created by the derampers/shorters.
Of course posts on here can affect the SP. No, not by one person posting one post but by people posting in packs and then also trading in packs behind the scenes. With low volumes of trades it is very easy to manipulate the SP in the short-term. If it wasn't, they wouldn't do it! The good news is that they can be wiped out by unexpected news or large volume days...
Indeed, Southernhay, especially when you consider the battering that the SP has taken for no real reason the last few days. As the guy suggests, maybe a lot of people are sitting on the sidelines and watching, ready to jump in if the support level holds. Let's hope they regret not jumping in sooner and it would just take a bit of decent buying to set the ball rolling, as ever.
This looks like a pretty good analysis from about an hour ago, not that we need more short-term traders!

AFC ENERGY SHARES BARELY MOVED DESPITE PARTNERING WITH DRONE AIRPORT OPERATOR
Shares of AFC Energy plc (LON: AFC) barely moved after signing a hydrogen fuel cell supply and collaboration agreement with Urban-Air Port.
Urban-Air Port designs, develops and operates the ground infrastructure for autonomous airborne drones and electric take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
The partnership allows AFC Energy to lease a zero-emission hydrogen power generator to Urban-Air Port’s first-ever deployment in Coventry, known as “Air-One”.
The Hyundai Motor Group will help Urban-Air Port develop 65 similar airports across the globe that will strictly use renewable energy in line with global zero-emissions standards.
Urban-Air Port has identified over 200 potential sites that could host installations similar to Air-One’s, which could be developed over the next five years.
Investors seemed oblivious to the potential future revenues that AFC Energy could generate via the partnership, which could be extended for many years to come earning the firm, consistent revenues from the various leases.
AFC Energy further confirmed that today’s partnership was part of its commitment to eradicating diesel power generation in environments that are not connected to the grid.
Today’s announcement is a massive win for AFC Energy, which is building a reputation as the go-to provider of non-diesel power generation, as evidence by its ExtremeE race partnership.
Ricky Sandhu, Urban-Air Port Ltd’s Founder and Executive Chairman, said: “Zero-emission, off-grid power is a critical component of our offering at Urban-Air Port, and AFC Energy are the perfect partner; to provide that capability with their world-leading Hydrogen Fuel Cell technology.”
Adam Bond, AFC Energy’s CEO, added: “Urban-Air Port’s aspiration to establish a global network of urban airports and unlock clean air mobility worldwide affirms its disruptor qualities within the eVTOL and autonomous aircraft space.”
Today, AFC Energy’s shares bounced off a crucial support zone on the news, creating an excellent trading opportunity for aggressive traders. However, conservative traders may find it best to wait for a retest of the support level before jumping in.
Thanks, everyone. As a few of you have said, we should be focusing on the news itself, not the diversion of bulletin board drama which is deliberately stoked up by some. Today's news was clearly positive and if it is the first of many, potentially larger, deals then the brokers will be right to consider AFC seriously underrated and undervalued. This is a marathon, not a sprint, but let's hope that AFC don't leave us waiting another month this time!
Good to see WH Ireland on the case this morning with a short note. The key part is their view, which seems sensible, but still wait for the "desserts".
WHI View: We believe the announcement reflects the adaptability of both hydrogen and AFC Energy’s fuel cell systems to provide emissions-free power to new markets. We believe that getting AFC Energy’s products out in the field to face the rigours of commercial use can only be positive for the company. In this respect, we believe that today’s news will build further on the confidence in AFC Energy’s product following the successful deployment of AFC Energy’s fuel cells to support the high profile XtremeE electric vehicle championships in notably extreme conditions (the Arctic, desserts, etc). We also note that given hydrogen is, in our opinion, the most flexible means of storing green energy (able to be stored indefinitely or used entirely at once), assuming an emissions free future, hydrogen and leading fuel cell providers – such as AFC Energy – will almost certainly make a very significant contribution to powering mobility no matter what form that takes. We believe today’s announcement underlines that point. All in all, in our opinion, today’s announcement is incrementally positive for AFC Energy and speaks to the adaptability of hydrogen and AFC Energy’s fuel cell products to support new growth markets.
Chippy, a very strange tactic to post negatively about a share and then tell everyone on a BB when you are half way through selling, but each to their own. Please let us know when you have finished selling so that we can see if the SP jumps up afterwards. Enjoy your trading and we look forward to welcoming you back, hopefully at 60p+!
I was talking to a friend this week who sells expensive, niche equipment in a range of settings and he was talking about how difficult it is to sell even the best new products until you can say that there are already customers on the books. Today's news is another step in the right direction and, as my friend said, sales can move very quickly once the initial orders come through.
Anyone who doubts that AFC has been under attack from a co-ordinated group of bashers/shorters need look no further than this morning's posts. The good news is that they do no always win, far from it!
I see that the bashers/shorters are queuing up to provide their negative spin on the announcement today. It is almost as if they would have rather had no news and more panic!
For me, the important points are:
- The announcement today could lead to multiple future orders.
- This is confirmation that progress is still being made.
- There was no mention of any problems, which should calm the nerves.
- We have been told on more than one occasion that multiple clients are on the horizon, with multiple orders, so there could be many more announcements to come soon.
Let's see if the AT trade sells magically vanish, with the wind changing direction, after weeks of sustained bashing/attacking the share without any justification.
The AT sells have been happening every single minute for hours, regardless of the SP, often at exactly 1 minute intervals. It is disgraceful that this sort of blatant attack on a share is allowed to happen and, in the meantime, I note that ITM and CWR are both blue whilst AFC is 7% down.
The drop looks manufactured to me, with someone selling aggressively for days in order to buy back lower as people panic and sell. We have seen it many times before and it invariably comes at a time when there has been no news news for weeks and when multiple posters on here are panicking or pretending to panic. It is generally then followed by a sharp jump back up. Rinse and repeat.
