Donal . Living north of the border and outwith Euro land the combination of very high energy prices, difficult to insulate housing stock and a ‘ non med ‘ climate is a cause of real concern. The further north you go the worse it gets with greater reliance on heating oil. Cheap energy is civilisation. At least in the Republic they have healthier public finances. In the UK ours are an unfolding disaster. Politicians seem incapable of competence in basic services and are distracted and obsessed by luxury beliefs. It’s very worrying.
