Inferno. I think you have hit the nail on the head. This share is driven by sentiment and it’s not positive at the moment. Recovery will be gradual and that’s not me making stuff up that what the airlines are forecasting with a return to pandemic levels now looking more like 2024. Of course these forecasts can change for better or worse and are a best guess at the time of writing. If you are going long then turn off and come back next year. If you are trading then every piece of positive or negative news will cause big swings . I am trading just because the volatility is bordering on ridiculous. I am sure this company will survive but what the landscape looks like is anyone’s guess.
Inferno, what you said.’ As a minimum look at 6-8 weeks. A number of key factors will either make this go to £3 or back to £1.50 of which none of us have any control either accept the risk or sell out or buy in. ‘ is a very sensible view with which I concur.
I just wanted to bring some balance to the board having read some ridiculous predictions. I am no expert on share price movement but have 29 years experience in the industry so have some insight on future traffic forecasts. . I do have skin in the game in that my livelihood depends on it and I want the recovery to be swift. I don’t normally post but felt compelled to.
Good luck to all holders
I agree. Anyone who warns newbies about investing at £2 plus is immediately shot down. I read elsewhere of folk investing at £2.20 which in my opinion is at the the upper end of medium term expectation. BA makes most of its money from long haul premium seats especially on the trans Atlantic routes. Long haul will be the last sector to recover and business travel will be subdued for years. If you bear that in mind then yes, buy at £2.20 but be prepared for a long bumpy ride to profit. Don’t expect a 3 bagger. I don’t hold stock anymore but did buy at 93p because that was good value but even then I was nervous it could go lower due to the situation. I am just shocked at the uninformed Blatant ramping of this stock but I’ll be happy if I am wrong.
Hampsteadboy, Sorry if I confused but it was all dollars . The only info out there I could find easily was in dollars but if it is somewhere else in Sterling then I’d appreciate a steer. If merely questioning the share price in a forum of discussion is seen as a type of blasphemy and misleading the flock then I wish you good luck.
I think the counter argument could be made for those who blatantly ramp based on sentiment ignori nag the fundamentals and then leave some other mug holding the baby when the music stops. All the talk of £3 plus is based on what? If you want to buy something based on sentiment you should look at buying Bitcoin.
Anyway, I thought I would try and bring some reason to the discussion but never mind . If someone can bring some solid numbers to the argument to counter my assessment then great . Good luck to all.
I was pricing in dollars. If I am wrong I would be interested to know what the market cap was on the 15th Jan 2020 compared to what it is now. If anyone has that info then I would be grateful.
I don’t know whether this has already been covered but the market cap before the pandemic took hold was 15.7 billion give or take. As of last night it was 14.6 billion. Is there a case that the share price has slightly got ahead of itself bearing in mind the company has just announced a massive loss and anyone in the know knows that their flying programme won’t be back on track until at best the Autumn of this year if not spring next year.
Just a thought.
