Decent drilling results could really propel the SP much higher....
Critical Mineral Resources (LSE:CMRS)
CMRS has emerged as one of the hottest new copper plays on the London market in recent months.
The company is earning into 60% of the large Agadir Melloul sedimentary copper project in Morocco. And as CEO Charlie Long has previously stated, it is very much an “awesome” asset.
Not only is it a geological analogue of the 130MT Tizert Copper Project, located just 55km away, but work by CMRS’ JV partner has already demonstrated huge potential for low-cost copper/silver production. This includes surface and near surface mineralisation modelled over a strike of at least 1.5km along with grades of up to 2.9% copper and 25g/t silver from trenching.
CMRS is taking a two-pronged approach to Agadir’s development.
For the nearer-term, it’s targeting a 750-1,000tpd initial open pit mine. But alongside this, it is also implementing what it calls its “strategic resource strategy” to investigate the mineral potential of the wider project – which has already demonstrated 12km of largely mineralised strike length.
Agadir is generating a buzz, for sure, with CMRS’ share price rising from below 1.5p to 4p over the last couple of months.
But with a 6,000m drill campaign now underway, aiming both to define sufficient initial mine resources and begin delineating a larger-scale resource, the company could advance significantly from its current £7.9m market cap on strong results.
