If you spend a fortune on a Li processing plant you do need guaranteed long term supplies of Li ore. And where could you buy ESG mined spodumene …yes, Portugal’s MdB mine which belongs to SAV !!
After the chip debacle I’m sure OEM’s car manufacturers will have learnt the lesson re importance of supply of key car components, even Li ore for processing into Li for car batteries.
This is from another BB, ‘ EXCLUSIVE: GANFENG EYES US OEMS FOR “STRATEGIC” STAKE IN MEXICAN LITHIUM PROJECT
8th April 2022 Lithium
China’s Ganfeng Lithium says major US automakers could make a “strategic” investment in the Sonora lithium mine in Mexico, as they seek to create a North American supply chain for battery raw materials.
China’s largest lithium producer said that an investment by Ford, GM or Tesla would help provide automakers with reliable supplies of lithium that can be easily shipped across the border to plants in the US.
“We are open to having strategic investors in our Mexico project, together with investment we could have an offtake agreement with them,” Wang Xiaoshen, vice chairman of Ganfeng, told Benchmark
So, if I was the ceo of a car manufacturer, I know what would be on my shopping list.
Well done to all, let’s you the relist takes place by the summer. Speculation is that a realistic share price on relist could be 6-10p based on OML 65 and the Angola assets.
Wonder why no RNS ?
Thanks for link CM, I live on Teesside, so will let you know when it opens !!
Often things are promised for Teesside and not delivered or have to wait years and years.
At Conf today DA very upbeat and stated that MdB mine WILL build an ESG mine.
DA wrote on LinkedIn today: Savannah will build the Barroso Lithium Project as an example of responsible mineral production, from both a social and environmental perspective. Our aim is to develop a template for modern, high-tech mineral production that helps complete this vital segment to Europe’s circular economy - a new model for investing while preserving natural capital.
Using the very best available technologies and practices, we aim to ensure production is as respectful of its environment as possible. Our strategic vision is to build a state-of-the-art mineral production operation for a premium, ultra-low carbon spodumene concentrate as a strategic raw material in Europe’s battery supply chain.
I’m presenting the Barroso Lithium Project as a case study for responsible investment today at Jornal de Negócios’ Sustainability Conference.
DA comment on LinkedIn re RBC announcement:
Partnerships with Global Leaders in their fields.
Pleased to conclude the week with the announcement of an alignment with the RBC Capital Markets following our announcement earlier in the week of a decarbonisation partnership with ABB.
Good comment from Farid Dadashev Managing Director Co-Head of EMEA Metals and Mining at RBC Capital Markets
Thanks David - look forward to working with you and your team on this exciting story!
Thanks Starfoxx for corrections and great that dots are joined. Looking for more dots to be joined in the coming weeks and months. Come on Portuguese government, start spending your EU money in the mining sector !
Don’t think DA would of engaged ABB if things were to come unstuck. Massive global companies like ABB would not link up with relatively small fry SAV unless they were confident of everything is proceeding to mining of Li ore.
Interesting that ABB is a Swedish company like Northvolt who are friends with VW, join the dots !!

Electrifying European Transport
At today’s Future of Transport Conference in Brussels, I had the opportunity to speak about the Barroso Lithium Project and its importance to the European lithium value chain in the session dedicated to ‘tackling the supply chain challenges facing the transport sector.’
The secure supply of lithium plays a critical role in the current geopolitical context, namely in Europe’s automotive industry. The EU’s twin green and digital transition is reshaping our societies and economies as well as the current international context. At Savannah Resources we believe that domestically produced lithium enabling electric mobility is a unique opportunity for Europe’s strategic autonomy and de-carbonization ambitions.
Savannah is fully committed to making its Barroso Lithium Project an integral part of Europe’s rapidly growing lithium battery value chain and an example for socially and environmentally responsible mineral production, being devoted to setting sector leading ESG practices.
Thanks for update re CAI gold project. Certainly looking like a great gold mine with low AISC cf to many gold miners. Long term hold for me, as in years to come the mine will make massive profits, once bank loan paid. Well done DR, now we need some good news re KRS and the Mn mine.
Agree, would make great business sense for Tesla. Clearly DA must be having some very interesting and lucrative off take discussions, subject to DIA approval. Golden eggs about to drop !!
Sadly, we live in a world which is largely unstable or ruled by ‘unstable’ people. Thankfully, the EU relatively stable, even with the terrible events in the Ukraine.
I work in a place where we have a Group looking at Industrial Decarbonisation of large manufacturing industries, like steel and cement: the message I would convey is that industry decarbonisation is unstoppable and hence the EV revolution will speed up over the next few years.
Putin is demonstrating his hatred of the west, with his unlawful brutal attack on Ukraine sovereignty. And China does not like the West as demonstrated by its bullying of Hong Kong.
So, if I was a EU car manufacturer where do I go for a guaranteed supply of ESG Li ore in a safe environment ? Surely Portugal ticks all the boxes, so DA must have some very attractive offtake deals in his inbox. Patience will soon be rewarded, I‘’m sure for SAV share holders.
Like this bit in the RNS - Up to 30kg of concentrate sample will be produced for downstream testing by Savannah's potential offtake customers
Note that it states potential customers - hmm, Galp and ???
Thanks Tony for link - like this bit - The Barroso mine is Europe’s only near-term source of spodumene, and so is a key part of the EU’s green transition. Since August, Savannah shares have jumped more than 35%, thanks to strong lithium prices, with the spot price for spodumene concentrate now at more than $3,000/mt. As a result, FinnCap has updated its valuation of Savannah to reflect a higher long-term price outlook, and upped its target price from 9.5p to 14p.
Don’t forget another massive milestone will be offtake agreement(a) with companies desperate for high quality battery grade Li ore. Will it be Galp/ Northvolt or a desperate car manufacturer, VW?
Wow, clearly Li ore is now becoming the ‘new gold’ and clearly SAV will be a cash cow in the years to come. Amazing numbers from Osaka and the great thing is that the share prices he quotes are achievable due to supply and demand issues, of ESG mined Li ore, in the coming years.
Thanks for replies, much appreciated.
Let’s hope we are celebrating KRS this year, alongside CAI.
Thanks for your reply, much appreciated. A general question re trading Asx shares like Claidus, what is the best share dealing platform to use, as Halifax does not trade Australian shares. However, like many on hear I am not selling my Claidus shares, as see excellent value in this share in the next 2 years.
Please could somebody advise me on why my Halifax share dealing account no longer prices my Calidus shares, only states Book Cost and Holding. Not sure if Halifax sent me a notification a long time ago, can’t remember !
Thank God for the free Calidus shares, as KRS is a very slow burn. The only saving grace is that steel demand will continue to increase worldwide year by year and all steels contain Manganese. Thanks in advance.
