IMF not impressed after their visit……

DHAKA, April 18 (Xinhua) -- The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said on Thursday that Bangladesh's economy continues to face persistent challenges and significant external financing needs.

The recent external shock and evolving developments are compounding the challenges and injecting significant uncertainty regarding the outlook, the IMF said in a statement.

bangladesh nationalist party (bnp) standing committee member amir khasru mahmud chowdhury today said almost all political parties in the country have submitted their respective proposals to the consensus commission.

the matter can be concluded within 15 to 20 days or maximum a month and elections can be held before december this year, he said.

amir khasru told reporters after a meeting with the visiting us deputy assistant secretary for the bureau of south and central asian affairs (sca) nicole ann chulick. the meeting was held at the residence of the us deputy ambassador to dhaka.

bnp secretary general mirza fakhrul islam alamgir led the meeting.

The bnp is most certainly going to be the biggest majority in the next govt so imho represents the majority of ordinary Bangladeshis!!…….this unelected cuckoo govt has no authority to drag this out in the hope it can shoehorn students into government or worse still bodge up some coalition……..I’m all for some quick reforms limiting the time between elections etc but time is of the essence because the economy needs democracy desperately……
