Construction and housebuilding group Galliford Try posts record results for the year to the end of June. Revenue including joint ventures rose by 31% to £2,431m and pre-tax profits increased by 20% to £114.0m. Earnings per share increased by 19% to 112.8 pence and the return on net assets improved to 23.3% from 20.8%.

Kingfisher reports a solid first half and good early progress with its 'ONE' Kingfisher plan. Total adjusted sales in constant currencies rose by 3.5% to £5,382m (France +1.1%; UK & Ireland +4.6%; Other International +5.7%). Retail profit in constant currencies rose by 5.0% to £410m (France (5.7)%; UK & Ireland +16.8%; Other International +3.0%).
Sports Direct Int'l said it continued to trade in line with management expectations. There was no material change in the financial position of the Group since the end of the most recent reporting period on 26 April 2015. CEO Dave Forsey said: "We continue to focus on the roll out of large format city centre stores and the expansion of our National Distribution Centre in Shirebrook. "Consistent with previous guidance we continue to target the revised Underlying EBITDA target (before share scheme costs) of £420m for the current period."
Whitbread (WTB) topped the roughly two blue chips lower with its fall of 2.39% to 4598.5p. It said total sales in the 24 weeks to Aug. 13 rose 11.8%, while on a like-for-like basis sales were up 3.9%. Premier Inn, restaurants and Costa enjoyed upticks in sales.
Associated British Foods' expectation for the 52 weeks to 12 September is unchanged with a slump in its sugar division offsetting progress at Primark and higher operating profit at constant currencies for the grocery, agriculture and ingredients arms.
